Hi all,

I am closing a deal on Weds for a soon to be mine 04 SRT-10. The dealer that has it just opened a new multi million dollar facility and Chrysler gave him a viper to put in the new show room.

The dealer does not have a viper tech and they are fairly uneducated in the ways of a viper. The dealer closer to my home does have a tech although this dealer only sells 1-2 vipers a year. I am really tight with the parts manager at my local dealer and I had him run the VIN.

What we came up with is that RRT 04-006 needs to be complied with.

IS this the Cam BOLT "recall"???? If it is, can I drive the car from the selling dealer to the my local dealer 70 miles away??? I can provide the VIN if needed.

thanks

I also have the recall. I now have 980 miles on the car with no issues. I still haven't been notified by Dodge or my dealer of any problem. I would say there is no problem driving it , but your fix it guy won't have the parts waiting as they are on back order.

I'd flatbed it to your dealer. Can you imagine the fingerpointing if your car broke (destroying the engine) during the drive? Everyone would suddenly remember 'we told you not to drive it' statements. I realize it's under warrantee, but if there's even a slight chance they could whine about it....not worth the risk. IMO

Re: HELP !! Info needed on my SRT-10

Steve: There used to be a requirement that before a Dodge dealer is allowed to sell Vipers he had to have a trained Viper tech in his shop. I would not allow a non Viper tech to work on my Viper. If your car is subject to the "Cam Bolt" recall understand that if after inspection they find the bolts have not gotten loose there will be no damage and no ned for "parts" other than new oil, filter, anti freeze, and a few small seals. If you cannot find a Viper tech at least find a mech who has done at least a few of this "recall" so you will not be his first. Good Luck!
