Help with WindShield

Hello all, I search and could not come up with any of my answers. I would like some help from members that have had their gen 2 windshields replaced. This weekend I will he having mine replaced and would like to know a few things. Does the rubber molding which goes around the windshield supplied or attached to it. I ask because my glass guy did not see a part number for it and the generic molding he uses is not a shiny black like factory, i want to keep it looking stock. My next question would is any tips for installing or things to be careful of that I can relay to my glass guy? Hope you guys have some answers for me! Thanks -Johnny

I just had mine done this past winter. My glass guy is a good friend so I trusted him, and I stayed there to watch it get done.
He found a great deal on a genuine Dodge windshield and it came with the molding. I would think you could order it from Dodge if you didn't get it. Call Chuck ;)

One tip I have is tape up the interior A-pillars. I put painters masking tape on mine to prevent scratched. The guy was very careful, but when the urethane squeezed out on the sides, it would have stuck to the interior panels if I didn't have the tape there.
Also, have them lay a towel across the dash, just in case the glass breaks. You don't want to be picking glass out of your vents and dash corners for the next 20 years.

Replaced mine about a year ago. Found on ebay. The guy had 2 brand new ones. Cost with molding $720 and without was $300.

Luckily my original molding was good so I saved a bunch of $$$

Re: Help with WindShield

i would also be interested in knowing how you got it shipped. My glass guy ordered the windshield from the dealer and cost $645 so i am assuming he got a discount for being a glass shop, i received a rock impact so my insurance is covering it with no increase in premiums and no deductible, its to bad because the install date conflicts with chuck tators tech session which I was looking forward to :(

All good tips Johnny. :phone:

Had mine done Tuesday, Dodge part and it came with molding; kinda nerve racking watching that process though
This reminds me, I also put painters masking tape around the windshield on the body of the car because, as I watched them starting to cut the old glass out, I could just imagine that sharp tool slipping and gouging the paint. So I stopped them and masked around the windshield on the roof and A-pillars.
