Look at the LeftLane rendering, squint your eyes, and think of a Kabuki mask-

Looks like one of those figurative demons, flying out of hell, and bent on vengence.

While a bit "busy", and maybe a touch juvenile, it is nevertheless evokative.

Also, you really are not suggesting you think the gen2 and gen3 are close in performance stock are you? Handling and breaking are different worlds. Maybe you are only thinking straight line? (which I think is the least important aspect of the car)

Ralph has said on many occasions that everything on an SRT serves a purpose. And lets not forget that he has said the design has been done for quite a while so how do we know that they didn't barrow design elements from the viper even though the car itself is not in production.

I lost my faith in Ralph's designing after the Gen III/IV. Seeing all the spy photos, I am so disappointed.

After the Fiat buyout, I was hoping for a sexier car with design assistance from Ferrari but it looks like we are giving them our ugly with the Ferrari FF.

At least the performance and the interior of the Gen V should dazzle.

Put them both on a track and you will understand. You don't have braking and I don't mean just one panick stop, but over and over again. Again though, this is my bias that I rate the cars by. I am not street racing or drag racing, but on a track.

You are correct that the brakes of the Gen III were drastically better than the GEN II's. That being said, a brake upgrade on GEN II's are very easy to do for less than $1,000. Provided you upgrade the brakes in a GEN II, their performance numbers are extremely close. Aside from the stock brakes, the GEN II's and GEN III's aren't different worlds apart in regards to performance IMO.

Like someone said on a different part of the forum I hope they make a drag pack for the new Gen V. Having an option for different gears, sticky tires, etc. would be very cool. Seeing as a large amount of owners tend to drag their viper rather than hit up a track, it could be a great option. I don't care as much about top speed since I will never see the number in the real world; however, I do see many stop lights on my weekly drive to Cars and Coffee.

If the tires are like the sticky ones on the outgoing ACR I can see maybe a 2.9 0-60 with the proposed launch control since the Gen IV's got so close with a 3.3 sec time. Maybe. It will be a lot of torque to control and put down with only two wheels though. Cant wait for official testing and owners reports.

That's a funny comparison, the Gen 2 vs the Gen 3 on a track. I remember when the Gen 3 first came out, somebody took one to the track, and immediately spun a rod bearing, cause the engine starved for oil under high G cornering. I think it was John Dearing driving...

I raced a new Gen 3 from a roll, when my Gen 2 was stock, and up to about 100mph, we were dead even, maybe I was pulling away just a bit, then traffic came up. I posted the results here, and never bragged I beat him, but even so, he was all butt-hurt and sensitive about it afterwards, but it didn't mean anything at all to me..He went on to insist he wasn't racing at all. Uh-huh....
