If the dealer accepts it, a $100 deposit is as good as a $5000 deposit if the correct paper work was done.

Agreed, I see a deposit as a contractual deal as one person has to willing give up the money and the other person has to willingily accept the money, the amount of which is a moot point. As a business I would see it as a huge PR hit if they came back later and said, "well your money just wasn't good/high enough to do business with us."

They sold the car? Sounds like a particular dealer is gonna be in a heap of trouble.

I doubt it. The dealer can get away wth just about anything with impunity. Where would the repercussions come from???? Dodge isn't going to do anything to them, they are selling there cars to the public. The only thing an individual can do is go to the BBB and that is weak at best. I thanks goodness for the great dealers like Tator's Dodge!

Pauls, im not a "shill" for anyone. i guess i could take that as an insult but it aint worth my time. i simply inquired about your story (and thats the email they sent me) as i may have a soon to be similar horror tale with my dealership and 2003 order here in youngstown. so, get your facts straight before assuming sh*t.

I agree with 96 RT/ 10. He is pretty much right. The dealer will not get in any trouble. If anything they will be contacted by the head office but they are not going to fight with the dealership over a car. They do not want to have to deal with the headache.
