Could someone with a 2000 GTS tell me or post a picture for me of the distance of the hood ajar switch from the radiator shroud. Mine has the but of the connector smack dab on the shroud and pinching the wires. I'm thinking that when the car got repaired that the wrong switch was installed. I adjusted the switch up but there was really no room for this adjustment. Closing the hood set it right back to where it was.

Thanks

Help me out with what you are talking about and I would be delighted to get a picture for you. Are we talking about some sort of switch that triggers a dummy light on the dash? If so, I didn't know that the Viper even had one. I have never seen it or had it light up when my hood was open.

Confused in KC,

Chris

That switch "migrated" by design from beside the LR hinge assy, to in FRONT of the LR hinge assy.

I do NOT know the year it changed.....but I bet it was 1999.

Thanks guys, but I'm afraid I haven't made myself clear. One of the disadvantages of posting, not being able to see what I am talking about. If I were at home, I would take a picture but I'm not.

Let me rephrase, how close should the butt of the connector for the switch be to the plastic stuff underneath it? Mine is right on top of the plastic covering the area in front of the radiator, squashing the wires on the connector.

Okay, finally got my camera working. Here's a pic of what I am talking about.

Note how squashed the wires are at the bottom of the switch. Does everyone else's look like this?

Thank you Chris,

I tried to get a second glance at MES' pic but it was gone. After viewing his pic the first time, I tried placing the bracket forward but the flange at the base of the bracket was too long and couldn't be placed in that position. Your pic confirms it. They installed the wrong bracket. I'll have to do some trimming. Simple enough.

Looks like I am also missing that rubber strip to keep the water out.

Thanks everyone.

I couldn't get MES' picture to show, but I assume it looks something like this:

It appears yours is simply turned the wrong way. Hope this helps!

Chris

PS. Sorry it is a little late - got caught up in some stuff last night...
