Edit...ops never mind, thought u were talking bout side emblems...

You obviously scuffed them to make the new paint stick right?? My guess would be you might've scuffed a little too much in that area and went through the protective clear. Anyways at this point use a sealant/primer a couple times and then repaint...

Agreed...
you need to get it built back up above the fluff which is absorbing the paint. Build it back up with a high build/sandable primer and sand it back down (just a little) so as to still stay above the fuzzy surface. The primer should never absorb the paint... it's always another reason.
You'll get it.

I sprayed the aerosol paint into a cup and brushed it on. i didnt trust the masking tape to give me a clean line. The brush worked well.

Jance, I ordered mine at the dealer, don't remember the part # but they should be able to pull it up. When it came in I picked it up from there without incurring any shipping charges.

Thanks! I need to get one but it will be awhile before I actually need it. I'll just wait so i don't have the huge box taking up space. Good to know you can still get them.

Gen 1 takes a different pad. I tried to get a gen 2 pad to fit on my '96 RT to no avail....

I don't think there's a different pad for gen 1. From what I'm told they didn't start putting the pads on till 1996. The pad I bought did not fit. I had to make some modifications to the right side of the pad around the air box intake.

I "think" 1995 was the first year for the full, black, pad. I know my 1996 RT came with a pad...and it is substantially different from the pad on my 2000 GTS. I compared the two...and tried to install the Gen 2 pad on my '96 hood. It didn't fit anything like the original.

Since I painted the logo on my 2000....I have an extra new pad still in the box...and it is a different part number than for my my '96...which has the smoothie hood. I'd bet that the smoothie hood used through 1997 on the RT uses the same pad as the hoods are a good bit different from the. Gen 2 hood.

I wanted to get a new pad for my '96....but they are long gone. The currently available ones are for gen 2 hoods. I have parts books and looked all this up back then. (I'd still buy a gen 1 pad if I could find it) There's no doubt there was a different pad for the earlier cars.

You say they are currently available. Where?? VPA doesn't have them. I've called Chrysler myself, and they don't have them. Dodge parts online doesn't have them.
