I run primarily the Short Track and the Big Track at Willow Springs with my 06 Viper Coupe. I cant really tell from reading the tire descriptions which model (Hoosier A6 or R6) would best suit the tracks I drive on. What is the difference between the two models of tires? The Tire Rack description is pretty vague. Also does Tire Rack offer a VCA discount? :confused:

Thanks,

I believe that the R6 is the tire you want.

The "A" in A6 stands for autocross I believe, and they're made to heat up quickly for an autocross course or quick qualifying laps on a road course.

The "R" in R6 stands for road racing or similar I believe, and they are made with a more durable road racing compound that takes a bit longer to heat up, but that will last and stick longer on a road course.

This is not gleaned from personal experience, just from internet chatter on various autox and track day forums.

Good question. I was looking for this answer.

I have another question:
If I want to use one of these Hoosier tires for drag racing I think "A" grade would be better. Am I right ?

You are quite correct.
A = Autocross
R = Road Racing
