My job now requires some driving (not in the city) and will drive about 200-300 miles per week. I'm wondering if any of you guys are so brave to drive the Viper every day. I'm scared to leave the Viper in public parking but for some reason I have no problems leaving my 70K BMW.

I drive it daily (when it's not raining). My commute is only 7 miles of light highway traffic each way and I have a fairly safe spot in a parking structure. Driving the V home at night is good therapy for a stressful day at work.

Daily for 46,000 miles. Orlando, Newport Beach, Maui, Honolulu. Never a problem. Kmart to Home depot. Work to golf courses. No roof or windows 90% of the time.

I'm with RedSnake, just taken out for the occasional cruise and then placed back into seclusion (under armed guard). The car should last me till I'm 145 years old or older.

I drive mine anywhere I have good parking. Work, supermarket, auto parts store, Jamba Juice but not Home Depo (too crowded parking lot). I put more miles on it than my other vehicle (Chevy K2500).

I used mine 25K miles for 3 and a half years as a Daily Driver.

Never a problem.

I did though get an M5 that I now use as a Daily Driver.

My Viper has two functions. One is to drive me to and from work, about five minutes each way. The other is to drive me to and from the track, and go like hell on the track!

200-300 per week??? I drive 160 miles a day! The only reason I don't drive my Viper every day is because I already have 65K on it and it would just sit out in the sun all day at work. But I have driven it for a week straight before.

Each and every day, rain or shine. I hate thinking that something happens to the Viper where I regret leaving in a garage. I bought it to drive, not to admire or put on a pedestal.

I have another more economical, practical car that I had planned to split the daily driving between it and my Viper. But the Viper is way too fun to drive. So I drive the Viper most every single day, and I only put about 800 miles on my other car last year (usually rainy days), compared to 6000 miles on the Viper.

Not too long of a commute, but I've had many fun extra drives.

I try to watch where I park it, but it goes everywhere. Home Depot, fast food drive through, bank, grocery store, and most any place that I can think of an excuse to drive it to.

Dean,
I would take it to Home Depo but havn't figured out how to get 100' of 3/4" sch 40 and a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 " ply in it yet. I guess having an R/T 10 has its advantages! :)

I don't drive it every day, but I do at least go into the garage and stare at it daily. For at least 10 minutes or so. It's good for mental health.

I drive mine every day in any weather. About 1000 miles/month. I would probably not drive it on the highway in heavy rain due to hydroplaning. And I park carefully too. But I love driving it every day!

In order to keep the Viper, at the end of May when my other car goes back at the end of its lease, I am making the Viper my daily driver. Hope it works out.

Not every day but every NICE day. Several people at the office ask if I drove 'her' even before they say 'good morning'. Only draw back I see is the road wear and tear that is normal for highway driving (20 miles each way). When I get her repainted I will probably get the 3-M product for covering her. I do have the advantage of a parking spot right outside my window.

(only other problem is I wish I lived farther from work!)

No kidding... I know what you mean about wishing you lived further from work. I loaned out my daily driver, and am driving the Viper for a few days. 1.5 miles to get to work. Not even enough time to get the engine warmed up...

Well Well Well. This Post seems very familar. :) LOL! I posted it right before I purchased my car. This car is a beast but I love it therefore I drive it everyday. I drive it to school and then anywhere I have to go for work. ;) I put about 50 - 100 miles on it a day. :) Look at it this way... you buy cars to drive. The Viper works and handles better after it has a few miles on it anyway. Why spend this kind of money on a car when it is just going to sit in the garage and gather dust. I bought my car to drive and have fun with... end of story. I have had the Viper for a little over five weeks and even with another car here I have racked up the mileage to 3,800. You just have to enjoy life and ENJOY THE CAR while you can. :D

I shouldn't reply to this thread....kinda what is the meaning of life. To use an old "cliche"...different strokes for different folks. We all have our reasons for what we do (or don't) with our cars..Vipers or others.

My Viper is not my daily driver. My commute is about 70 miles round trip through very heavy bumper to bumper traffic and I put about 20,000 miles per year on my daily driver. Driving a stick shift through this crap would not be fun, plus I see about 5 rear fender benders every morning and don't want to risk the Viper being one of them. My Viper is only for weekend fun, cruising, and an occasional run at the drag strip.

I see what your saying about not wanting to leave the Viper in a public spot. There are plenty of newer SUV's and luxury cars worth more than my used Viper, but the Viper is so flashy that vandals must just salivate when they see it and the more expensive luxury cars and what not are just too low profile compared to a Viper. I would not think twice about parking some $70-$100,000 luxury vehicle in a public spot, but I don't make a habit of parking my 96 Viper that is maybe worth $40-$45,000 in a public spot. Flashy cars just attract would be vandals who want to ruin your day, even if there was a more expensive luxury car parked right next to it.

I do think people in general respond differently to a Viper than to say a Porsche or SL. With a Porsche or SL a lot of people think rich [******]. With the Viper they seem to think "cool car". I think this helps reduce vandalism.
