How to install ACR harnesses?

I can't find ANYTHING on how to install 5 point harnesses in a GTS. I would think this would be very common?

I under stand where the side belts go but what about the crotch belt? Or where do the shoulder harness bolts go?

I have new ACR harnesses that I need to install tonight for a race this weekend.

Help!

NEW ACR harnesses? Check the date on them. They haven't been made in years and after 5 years on the shelf they are likely not going to pass tech.

There's a how to in the Illustrated Upgrades section, but you have to be a VCA member to access that. Have you thought about joining?

Meanwhile, you might try using the search term of 5 point harness using the search link above. There have been many threads with pics.

Janni and Henry Cone did a GREAT job of showing how in the Illustrated section. It's the Team Tech, not the ACR, so check around to see if they're different

I don't have acsess to the "how to section" yet.

Yes, brand new ACR harnesses from 2002.

Question; do I have to cut HOLES in the rear panel behind the seats? How was this done on factory ACR's?

BTW this is going in a 99 GTS.

I'd like to avoid cutting up my Viper interior.....

Any other options?

Well,....you haven't looked to hard:smirk: Google is our friend. Try a Google search under "team tech harness instructions" and you will find a nice pdf posted by Henri Cone.

And yes...you will have to cut slots in the trimpanel (neatly and carefully). You can always get replacement panels later ( salvage)

Also...call the track...for this particular outing ..you most likely can use the belts in the car now (3-points)....more important to by a new-spec helmet and change your brake fluid.

On Gen II ACR, crotch belt goes to an eyebolt that mounts on the angled portion of the floor just forward of the line drawn between the seat rails front mounting points. A liitle less than 5 inches from mounting bolt closest to the trans.

For the shoulder harness, you have to cut the bulkhead plastic. I don't see anyway around it in order to mount them to an adequate support inless you install a bar which would require cutting some other panel anyway. PM sent.

I did this not to long ago. If you follow the How-To you won't have any problems. I printed out the templates and laid them over my panels. Cut where I needed to and everything came out fine. If you really don't wanna cut you'll have to buy and ACR T- Panel and side that already have the slots in them. Schrafs prob has them. Don Scharf Auto I know they want $300 for the t-panel, not sure on the sides.

He says he's GOING to a track. So the ad isn't false :D

The way I read the ad, the seller is being truthful. I don't doubt that you have a different interpretation of his words than I do, though. If he has been to a Viper Days type HPDE event once a year 2 or 3 times, I would never ever be one to describe that car as a "track car." He did not state that he never drove it on a track, just that it is not a track car.
A "track car" is one that has spent a considerable amount of time on the track, and perhaps is used mostly for the track. Usually it means a car that has had substantial modifications specifically for track use.

That's my opinion as one who visits the track several times a year.
