How\'s Lingenfelter doing?

Stopped by a small corvette show today, and just got to thinking about John. Haven't heard any updates to his status.
I hope he is 100%! Anyone know more?

Last I heard, he was still in the coma. The bad thing is that it wasn't even caused by the accident. It was the freakin anesthesia!

This is the last update on his site.

"Latest Updated Information April 12, 2003

John's current condition is stable. He remains in a semi-comatose state and has recently been moved to an extended care facility near his home. The fractured 6th and 7th vertebrae of his neck have fused properly without surgery and the halo traction device has been removed. Friends and family members remain hopeful for Johns continued recovery and appreciate your ongoing thoughts and prayers."

If half the truth were known about medical misadventures, including deaths and serious harm from prescribed drugs and Anesthetists - the public would be alarmed more about modern medicine than they are about all the hype about natural remedies and their so called "quackery" the UN has been peddling lately.

... not saying there is no quackery - it just pails into insignificance compared to the harm done within the "official medical profession" that's all - no flame on all those hard working and honest professionals doing their best to save lives! Accidents do happen, but the dangers of anesthetic are well known and not enough is being done to make it safer including finding safer substitutes - what happened to John is far from isolated and is not acceptable.

There will never be an absolutely safe med. to give to indivduals. A person may act fine one day and then react totally different a few days later to the same med and dose. It is one of the mysteries of medicine and some things are impossible to predict and that is where preparation plays a huge role. Pray for the best and prepare for the worst.

What happened is unfortunate and as you stated not isolated, and I do agree everyone is human and honest mistakes do occur.

A lot of times, your success or failure in the hospital will depend on experience (years in the biz) of your MD and the hospitals facility that you are in (generally speaking). If you are in an understaffed and/or underequipped hospital and you have a life threatening situation, you are in trouble. Worse yet, if you are with a physician that is a recent graduate that is limited in knowledge and experience pertaining to your problem, you are in major trouble. Life is like throwing the dice, sometimes it's all seven's and every now and then it's snake-eyes.
