HUGE Cooling Problems with RT/10, Need Experts!!

My '01 had a bad water pump -- the pump impeller cracked around the input shaft. The overheating would only show up after the engine was revved. Try taking the car out and revving it up -- if the temp goes up and stays up, that's likely your problem.

Overheating any engine is bad news, but overheating
an aluminum engine can be much more serious, as damage
happens at a lower temperature than cast iron, and can
be more severe.
I hope you kept the documents from the dealers that did
the repairs under warranty. Down the road you may need to
show them that the car had been in to repair the overheating
problem on several occasions (and was mis-diagnosed ?)
Does Chrysler know you are renting this car out ? Do they
have any restrictions on the warranty for "commercial" vehicles ?

DEFIANTLY CHECK THE WATER PUMP!!

We came across one last week! I don't now what Nuckelhead came up with this BRILLIANT IDEA,

but the water pump had a PLASTIC IMPELLER!! THIS WAS ON AN 01 ACR!! ON THE TRACK!

YOU MIGHT GET AWAY WITH THIS ON A UGO BUT NOT ON A VIPER!!

Who ever came up with this should be Drawn and Quartered!!

I'll find out when they started with PLASTIC, and I'll kept everbody posted!!

Not sure how you kept the car in "Warranty" status either. Most likely Dodge doesn't know. I couldn't even purchase an extended warranty, as any type of rental vehicle is not covered.
