Ok, well I usually don't like to rant on forums but I just can't believe the local police around here. If I drive the Vette and keep it right at speed limit or even less I get pulled over, if I drive the Viper and am just standing at a light waiting for it to go green I get pulled over if I drive the work truck (02 Ranger) speed like crazy, don't signal, don't wear my belt (becuase I'm usually in a mad rush to get somewhere) I dont' get pulled over KNOCK ON WOOD!!! Now honestly I need to know why the police can't stand a young guy driving a decent car? Honestly I am not racist or anything but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the color of my skin! I pay their freaken salary with how much tax I give. I paid 21k in just tax on the Viper not to get harassed by them!! Yesterday I got pulled over twice in a 30 minute drive both times for "not matching the owner description". I wonder when they see a Viper the owner description shows up as a white man 55 years old 6 feet tall. I have to stand in the middle of the freaken road for about 45 minutes for them to do every check possible on me and then have them say "thank you for being so patiet!" Freaken cops. I tried asking the 2nd one why I got pulled over and he said LICENSE AND REGISTRATION 3 times so I just handed it to him and stood there like a *****! (oh yea and get this the first cop called for back up without getting out of the car and just having my car standing in the middle of the road me inside my car and her inside hers...I tried to step out of the car to ask her wut her problem was and why she isn't coming and she went on her stupid radio saying "SIR PLEASE STEP BACK INTO YOUR VEHICLE".)

You said 'local police'. I assume this means small town cops. They see the Viper as a target, and you're in it. Don't get too ********** at them, I would pull Vettes over all the time!

The way to fix the problem is to speak to the mayor. Be nice at first and gauge his/her attitude. If the reaction is negative, remind them that small towns/police depts. can be dragged into court for harrassment, just like anyone else.

Have you been ticketed for any of these 'infractions'? I'm not sure the police can pull you over unless you violate a law (in some states) They can always say (lie) that you canged lanes w/o a signal or some BS, but now with all these cameras in the patrol cars, cops must be very careful about making up a story that the camera can disprove.

You also said 21k in taxes paid.....you meant 2K?

Nope 21 thousand in taxes on the Viper alone!! ($20,665) to be more exact. Next thank god they DON'T give me tickets. They never make up any other b.s. just "rountine check becuase you don't match the description". I asked them to change the freaken description then and they said sorry we can't. What the hell   This city isn't very small its a pretty big size but the cops around here are pricks! (Very close to vancouver b.c. and when I drive in Vancouver I DON'T get harassed maybe becuaes more people there have nice cars!)

How do you pay $20,665 in taxes on a 85K car? That's a 24% tax rate. I never heard of sales tax being anywhere neer that high. Did you win the car at a casino or something?

It's the socialist republic of canada that's why.

bhady: Next time you get pulled over, try being the most charming man in the world. When the pigs are done jerking off, thank them for looking out for Viper thieves, and if there's anyway you can get to know the lot of them better so as to not waste both of your time in the future, because you understand that you don't quite fit the profile. (I know, it's BS, but they like getting their a$$ kissed). Offer them rides during their offtime. In other words, reach out to them. Even if they don't take you up on it, they'll remember you. Keep it up for a month or so, and every cop will wave to you when you drive by.

But I feel your pain... I'd want to **** slap them too for being such *****. It ***** and shouldn't have to come to that, but a little humility now is better than being dragged to the ground and humiliated by a guy named Bear in the holding tank because you showed the cops a little justified attitude. Who knows? You might even make a friend or two. Some pigs forget to be jerks when they're not in uniform.

car 121,500 tax + 17% tax (were talking canadian money here)
20,665.00 CAD Canada Dollars = 16,955.55 USD United States Dollars

Thanks for the positive words guys. I actully smiled at the 2nd cop just to be a freaken nice guy.

And YES their exact words were "You don't quite fit the owners description"...after she looked at my license she asked me to "repeat my name and birthdate" lol...whats next lets see if you can walk in a straight line.

I got pulled over twice in the last month. Once was because they apparantly recieved calls of a black viper ripping it all around Vancouver "of speeds up to 160 km/hr". I said it must have been another viper and they said, "well, they gave us your plate". I asked how the people who called in knew how fast I was going, if they had a radar gun or something, and they didn't like that. The other time was because I don't have a front licence plate and my tinted windows. I can't complain about that cause my lights, windows, no front licence plate, and exhaust are all illegal so it attracts a lot of attention.

The cops in Vancouver are assholes, especially the traffic ones. When they see a young guy driving a nice car, they'll never let you off of a ticket. Just one word of advice, if you're being honest, they tend to be nice back, and may possibly let you off with a warning. A buddy of mine was street racing, and he was honest with the cop. The cop was young, joked with him for a bit, and let him off cause he was honest, and it was late with not too many cars on the road.

When the weather gets better lets go for a cruise Ricky!

For sure man...I got caught in the freaken rain yesterday!  I even said I'm not gonna drive in the rain again...oh well I ordered a buncha waxes and stuff to detail it ;) . So far I haven't gotten hassled in Vancouver yet. Only in Surrey KNOCK ON WOOD!! I can't wait to see your car with the hre's on it!

And yea cops are freaken idiots...one wrote me a ticket a while back saying I was doing burnouts all around Surrey when I wasn't and I fought the ticket and won in court!

On the other hand...damn dude you didn't tell me you have an sl55 as well! Thats one wicked car. You gotta take me for a spin in it one day!! :D
Ricky

Cops and their fricking brotherhood crap!

We had a cop here get shot recently..well..I hate to say it,but I wonder what goes around comes around. Obviously I am not a fan of badge heavy cops. That's all I am saying...don't care what others think of that...argue all you want until you get a sig with a hammer pulled back at point blank to the back of your head for no reason..changes your outlook on law enforcement. Bunch of pigs!

Cops are like most people some are great, some are okay, and some our A@@HOLES!.

Unfortunately, because of the POWER they have, the bad do more harm than the average A@@HOLE. We had a cop in Denver (he was driving his personal car, in civvies, and off duty)get into a traffic altercation (got cut off kind of a thing) and when they both pulled over he starts getting real aggressive so the other guy takes and the damn cop shot him in the back a couple of times. If you or me had of done it we would still be in prison. Of course the cop walked.

Still I think the good cops outweigh (no pun intended) the bad ones.

Not good enough. One wrong overzealous action and they ruin the lives of dozens. That's why they (and doctors) are under the microscope. And that is also why even the most routine duties must be performed flawlessly and professionally.

If a roofer screws up, somebody ends up with a leak in their living room. If a cop screws up somebody ends up with a leak in their body.

I'm not going to defend the bad cops out there. Most of them are barely high school grads with chips on their shoulders, and the only respect they've realized they can get is from hiding behind their badges. Give them the "respect" they want (albiet not earned) and they'll leave you alone. They're simple that way.

Not cop bashing here, but I consult and work with enough of them to know. The good cops are usually ostracized because they won't cover the bad cops a$$es.

A local cop just got busted for selling crack out of his partol car! Gee, I wonder what the other criminals will do to him in jail, for the next 40 years....

This same cop used to brag that he dated Susan Smith way back before she drove her children into a lake.

Honestly I am not racist or anything but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the color of my skin!

That's interesting. All of the Canadians I know have assured me that Canada is a color-blind country. They are pretty sure that racism is a uniquely American issue that never occurs North of the border.

It is easy to generalize and I've had some bad experiences, but plenty of good ones too, where I was let go with a warning. I used to be in the military so I always fall back on that....
