It seems like you've got all the time in the world to complain about how you don't like an emerging auto technology, I just thought you might want to put all of that negative energy to a good use and, let's say... design something better, using the same constraints and program goals as those who designed the current gen headlights.
An emerging auto technology? This technology "emerged" to production in 2007 and has been around for 15 years, yeah, real emerging.
And as far as putting words in your mouth, I only paraphrased what I thought were your ideas.
Well hopefully you are not in a profession that requires you to think too much because you are very far off from what I said. I specifically said creativity was lacking. You can point to a lot of these new cars and single out the car that inspired their headlights! Thats not creativity, thats plagiarism.
You however fabricated an entire LED-obsessed fantasy for me; I never said anything about liking every headlight ever prouduced with LEDs, and I certainly don't think the addition LED lighting itself adds to the styling of a vehicle. Truthfully, I think the headlights could have looked better than they do right now, but I get the look they were going for, it's just the slightest bit off.
I get the look they were going for as well, and I understand why they did it. My opinion is purely personal, non business related. LED headlights are the new rave, everyone has to have them. Kind of like spinners 15 years ago, you would see spinners on wheels everywhere. Vehicles follow trends, I get that, and I get that if another company has made them successful then why not utilize their trial and error and save money. From a business standpoint, good on them. From an asthetic standpoint, its just another replica. We will use LED's as main lighting and complementary lighting in the future, but I don't believe it will be as obnoxious with designs as it is now. It has been played out, lets get original, lets get creative. This is why I love the original Vipers, there was nothing out there that looked like them. Yeah they were rugged, but as far as copying other vehicles they weren't close enough to say those are headlights completely inspired by another car manufacturer, that car looks like another vehicle, they clearly took that idea from another vehicle, it was original. Hopefully your understanding a bit more now, more care should have been put into this and the statement saying they can be turned off, well yes maybe they can however you still HAVE to have running lights when your headlights are on therefore the orange set will have to remain on at a minimum.
