What is the reason/benefit to paying an extreme premium on a new 2008?

The one listed on ebay, assuming they are legit bids, is $50K OVER sticker.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2008-Dodge-Viper-SRT10-Coupe-600h-p_W0QQitemZ200142986753QQihZ010QQcategoryZ6209QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I totally get it, if you have cash to burn, then who cares. But within 6 months to a year prices will be down a lot. People can get a better sense for the colors and how they play out, and all that stuff.

So my question is WHY? :dunno:

Think some fool paying 10K over sticker for a PP Loser (PT Cruiser). The CEO where I used to work said it best: "We don't want the smart poor people or the smart rich people for our customers, we want the dumb poor people and the dumb rich people!!!!!! Did you wash my BMW?"

I get it. Who actually reads the item description that closely? I had to read it 3 times to see the part about bidding over MSRP. And that was only because of your first post. Had it not have been for that, I'd have been bidding on a $52K '08 Snake!

We'll see if it's relisted in about a week.

I wont pay over sticker for a car that is still in production(or not even started for that matter)!!! Anyone who does some research or knows someone will be able to get one of these at a discount below MSRP or less.

I think it bodes well for the Vipers future if people are willing to pay that much over MSRP. Remember when the RT/10 first came out? How about the GTS? It occurred with the SRT-10 as well. It could also be that someone really wants to possibly have the first Green one.

Personally I have never paid over sticker for a car and probably never will. Although I did pay sticker for a car once. I was 20 years old and had to have it. The culprit, 1995 Black TA w/6 speed manual (they were hard to get for a while).

Paying that much for an 2008 is simply uninformed, stay tuned, there will be posts here of who is selling Vipers at list or below....and then it makes a little more sense to get one. I'm actually considering working Saturdays and selling a few Vipers here and there....why not, I Love the car, I have one of my own and I'd have 5 more if I had the dough on hand....makes sense for one day.....sorta like a "hired gun" in the showroom.

Regards,
Aaron

I had to wait until 2/07 to get over 17K OFF the sticker of my '06.

So I guess I'm waiting until at least 2/09 for a 600hp version? :D
