Just bought a new 2008 ACR.. Picking it up Saturday... I had a 06 viper, and then had a few z06s... Now I am back! Taking it to a porsche track event at Gateway in St. Louis... I can't wait to eat a few porsch's for lunch! Never owned a ACR... What should I expect! I hoping for a major upgrade from my 09 z06 or even my 06 viper... Not a racer, just done the porsche event a few time...

thanks, Frank

The ACR is a pnenominal car, especially on the track. You won't hit the car's limits for some time. If you can adjust the shocks to the 6 & 4 settings and have it lowered and track aligned in that order. You should blow away any street Porsche including the GT2 & GT3 :headbang:

Welcome!

You just missed an SCCA event this past weekend with us. We had several Vipers including an ACR there (there are a few in St. Louis now). Send me a PM or contact the Gateway Viper Club (Viper Club of America - Gateway Region) to get involved.

Several of us are also going to the Autobahn Country Club on Sept. 14th with the Illinois Club for some fun.

Congrats on your new toy, and welcome back! The first thing you can expect when you put your ACR on the track is to pass a lot of Porsches! The car is impressive in all the right places, but the braking is nothing short of amazing!

I have been to Gateway many times, and I have seen many Vipers crash on this track. Show that track the respect that it deserves, especially when you are out in a new car.

I will be at the Autobahn on the 14th. Looking forward to seeing many of you there!

OK, Newbie... what’s the Autobahn on the 14th??

I got a black with the red stripe.. Can't wait to see it!

A few quick questions...
What type of seat belts are in the ACR? What type of 5 point harness would you recommend...

Is the Stock exhaust on the ACR the same as a non ACR?

Thanks again... Frank

The Autobahn Country Club is a raceway in Joliet, IL. The track is approximately 3 1/2 miles, and it is a great facility. September 14 will be my first time driving on this track. I rode with a good friend of mine (Tom) in his purple/white stripe ACR a couple of months ago, and he scared the crap out of me. Don't get me wrong, he is a great driver, but he was pushing on the gas when I thought it was time for some brake action! Keep in mind, that I have been driving on tracks for years, but never in an ACR, and never on this track. That was my first introduction to performance driving in the ACR, and it is a far superiour track car than my previous Vipers. It's good to be at the top of the food chain when you go to a track!!! :headbang:

If you are interested in attending the Autobahn event, you can contact our IL Club Driving Director - Mark Schumann at [email protected]

Hope to see you there.

Forgot to answer your other questions...

I recommend 6-Point TeamTech belts. I got mine from Jon B at PartsRack.com. He is great to work with. I also ordered one of my shoulder straps in red and one in black on the drivers side to continue the red drivers stripe - looks very cool!!!

The stock exhaust is the same for the ACR and non ACR. I ordered a Bellanger system (headers and exhaust) from Jon B, and it sounds great. Pretty loud during normal driving, but I like it that way.

Take care,
Scott
