I need help w/ mgw knob please

A xmas present from my wife. I'm trying to install the new Mgw Race Knob and I am having a bit of trouble.

I cant get the boot low enough to get a wrench on the nut. It seems there is a large diameter piece right under the nut which is keeping me from lowering the boot . I can just barely expose the nut but not enough. For what it's worth, I've got a b&m ripper mechanism underneath.

Any thoughts on how to overcome this? Thanks in advance.

Never mind, I finally just got mad enough to cut the stiching. It was the B&M fitting which was keeping me from lowering the boot far enough.
