I saw an ad in ebay that said the car is \"woman driven\"...

Why is it that people think the car is better taken care of when you say it's woman driven. I know there are some woman out there that know their stuff on Vipers and other cars, but I think I would hesitate to buy a Viper that was women driven.

The reason why I say this is because most of the women I known could give a rats a$$ on doing an oil change, hitting curbs, driving too close to dump trucks and so on. They just don't pay attention to details when it comes to cars. (Again there are exceptions). I just think it's a cheap gimmick way to describe how a car is when you want to sell it. Used car salesman tactic.

I agree, when I was looking for current car, drove 3+ hours to Tampa/Lithia area, add was like 8,000 miles, female owned and driven with extended warantee till 2005.

When I got there, it was female owned, by some old 45 year biker lady, who used the car to pick her degenerate boyfriends for the night. She would let them drive her car, then she rode them.

Every rim damaged, hood would not open, door saged very badly. almost every pannel scratched, interior smelled, ran 240 degrees at idle, screetching brakes.

The car was so beat, I was in shock. It just a sales ploy.

Yeah Adam,
you are right. Oftentimes when I see some jacka$$ in a sport utility vehicle take it "off road" (meaning driving on the sidewalk) it's usually some ignorant woman.

And they are NEVER picking their cars up from service departments at dealerships - the MEN always take care of that stuff. I surprised you don't see them stranded on the side of the road every 50 yards because they didn't realize you actually had to put GAS in the thing.

And that dump truck thing - isn't that the truth, is the X chromosome so messed up that it actually makes us WANT to be pelted by flying debris - I know I just can't help myself- I love the thrill of the rock bath - it's almost like playing a video game!

Don't make generalizations.

Sometimes women are gentler with cars (i.e. no power shifting, drag racing, cold engine WOT, easier on brakes, smoother) and sometimes not. The sales ploy is to make you assume that it has been lovingly driven...

Janni.

I don't care if it's owned by a woman or a man. The number one thing is miles. If it's only got a few thousand miles on it, like that garage queen Chuck 97 GTS has, then it's probably in great shape and been well taken care of.

However, that doesn't mean that a Viper with 46,000 miles like my RT/10 hasn't been taken care of, but I'm sure it's not as pristine as some of those poser cars.

Re: I saw an ad in ebay that said the car is \"woman driven\"...

I've meet more Lamborghini Diablos than I have women who treat their cars gold. This includes the circle track girls down at the weekend races. Sure there are exceptions, but generally speak the women I meet either are nuts about the outside (could not care less about the engine) or vice-versa. At least three of my male friends are like me and have the power steering pump flushed per maintenance schedule.

Driven by women or old folks is not a selling point for me, zero brake dust build up on the calipers of a 70k mile car is. Course that's just me...

Adam, sorry - apparently I did not sprinkle enough smilies in my post....

I know you made a note of exceptions, but truth be told, women are much more responsible nowadays with regard to cars than they were in the past. No longer do they rely on men for car maintenance, all their money or killing bugs...
laugh.gif
Well, ok, maybe the bug thing...

But with the dashboard reminder lights for oil changes and the dealers sending cards and letters reminding folks of service, it's a pretty level playing field. And the poor driving seems pretty equally distributed amongst the sexes, IMO...

Watch who brings their car in for service - yup - women can and do follow maintenance schedules. Of course, you're just as likely to see the soccer mom there in a panic because she ripped the passenger side mirror off her gargantuan sport ute backing out of the garage AGAIN and trying to get it fixed before the end of the day....

Re: I saw an ad in ebay that said the car is \"woman driven\"...

For what ever it's worth.
I think the car in question here is the '00 Black GTS from Winnipeg.
I'm from Winnipeg and I know a little about the car, like it was won in a radio contest by a woman who would never have normally bought this thing.
She won it last year and only registered it this May.
I spoke with her boyfriend/husband this morning and he said "we have three kids and a Viper is just not practical for us".
I am planning on taking a close look at the car maybe this week.
If anyone is interested in details I could pass them along, just let me know.
Although if people would stop bidding on the darn thing, maybe I could convince her to sell cheap, after all she did win it in a contest.

No problem Janni....You're right though...my statement above did seem general. I bet you could teach me some stuff on my Viper! But I do have to say reading some of your post did impress me of your knowledge. Kudo's to you!

I will buy you 3 beers at VOI.7! (I think the beers are free though. heh! So if they are..Beers for everyone on me!).
