You need to find the code initiating the check-engine lite. Refer to shop manual or your dealer for the codes

You should be fine, you cannot overreve the engine in neutral, there is a rev limiter which is part of the engine computer,
The only time that you can overreve the motor is if you down shift when going too fast (5th to 2nd for example)

Unplug the battery for few minutes to reset the light.

Hopefully, things are OK...wonder about the "why" on slipping out of gear...as there HAVE been a few tranny problems show up on 2001's within first 400-500 miles (don't know about 2002's...yet).

You MIGHT be interested in Roy's post which I have included...noting that it reflects the advice from Herb Helbig (Team Viper...now "PVO") on page 36 of the Spring 2000 issue of Viper Magazine.

Personally, I would take it to the dealer NOW and note ALL of your observations....BEST of luck, and ENJOY your COOL RIDE!!!

Just make sure that you put it all the way into gear. I had it pop out in 1st once when I was leaving a stop sign and it was beacuse it was not all the way into first.

Make sure you don't have a different problem happening at the same time, a loose gas cap for emissions reasons will give you a check engine light. Just thought at 270 mi you might have just filled up? I'm having that problem right now, someone ripped it off, I got a replacement that I'm not entirely sure is the right one)and I can't get the light to go away. Getting a new oem one from Woodhouse on Mon.

on a 2002, you can not turn off the check engine light without a trip to the dealer or getting a hold of a code reader...

don't even bother trying all the suggested "unplug the battery for 200 hours and stand on your head" solutions that only work on older models...

I have 270 miles and able to rev to 4K. Today during a drive the gear popped out from second and I think that I overreved the motor. The check the engine light come out. However the car drives fine and sounds the same. My friend is saying that it could be O2 sensor. What do you think? Should I worry?
