Correct me if I am wrong but isn't a Viper suppose to idle at 660 rpm? My car idles at just above the first mark on the tach above zero. Is this too low? I am having problems with the car dying when coming to a stop. Idle drops to zero and then rebounds, sometime it completely dies. Could it be because of a faulty Idle Air Control Motor, or is my idle set to low? Any help would be appreciated.

I've had the car since March and haven't cleaned the throttle bodies yet. I have tried to adjust the idle up but it dosen't seem to help, still drops to zero when stopping and then bounces up to normal rpm.

There is I posted it a couple of weeks ago. But didn't get any answers that worked. Being in the middle of nowhere, the local and surrounding Dodge dealers have never sold or serviced a Viper. I'm not really sure I care for them to "hook it up to the computer" with them not knowing what they are doing, but I may be forced to do it if I can't find the problem myself.

First of all, I agree that the first mark on the tach is 500 RPM's.

Regarding the variation in RPM's at idle, I agree with Johann about the throttle bodies. Mine too exhibited those characteristics and I was able to correct them by using throttle body cleaner.

If it works.......great. If not, you've lost nothing but a few bucks.

Thanks, Rich. It sounds like you have the fix to my problem because you described the "gremlin" perfectly. I will give it a try ASAP. You do need to put this under the "How To" section, from what I can gather I'm not the only one having this problem.

Thanks Rich Carlson for the fix on my Idle problem. Cleaned the throttle bodies and air bypass valve today .Both had heavy carbon deposites especially the air bypass valve. After cleaning them, the car now idle's perfectly with no stalling. Thanks again.
