im no expert by anyones definition but ive been wondering, why two factions? and, if im not mistaken, IHRA seems better as far as slack goes, which is good for us RT10's. i justordered my rulesbooks so as to find out the exacts and such.

what are the pros and cons of each?

IHRA tracks are more liberal because they do not usually have the income potential that is derived from hosting a national event. IHRA tracks make up alot of the small town, home grown facilities and have been known to be more user friendly because of this fact.

In any event, consideration should be given to basic safety items (especially for RT Viper owners) like roll bars, seat belts, halfshafts, safety loops, a good Snell 95 or newer helmet and at a minimun a fire retardant SFI approved race jacket. These items are not that expensive and may save your asp one day.

Just my $ 0.02

IHRA is much more liberal. Norwalk is IHRA for the Viper Nationals and they go even farther, 11.00 without any bars for Vipers. I know Quaker City gets fussy below 11.50. Now Dragway 42 doesn't blink if you ran 10s in Viper without a bar.
