I'm saying farewell guys. I traded the '95 on an '04 Z06 today. The discount on the new Z06's was too hard to pass on. I want to sincerely thank everyone for all the help you've given me and for answering my questions about the car. You guys are a top notch group! I wish everyone the best of luck with everything here. The Viper is an incredible machine, but I needed something that I could drive 100 miles per day if needed and I just didn't feel comfortable doing that in a Viper. Hopefully someone will buy the car that knows what they have and take care of it. So, hopefully I'll still be welcome here and again thanks for everything everyone!

Hey thanks guys! I appreciate it. Who knows what the future holds. I could see myself in a Gen 2 someday or possibly a Gen 3. I'll have to wait for the prices to come down a bit on the Gen 3's though.

Jon - I drove a '97 GTS but it was pretty ragged out to make any kind of judgement from just that car.

The discounts on the Z06's are crazy. At the corvette forum, they're offering $10k off of MSRP on 04 C5 Verts which equals around $45k out the door (plus taxes).

I almost bought one as my daily driver about a month ago -- but I got too good of a deal on my 04 C32 AMG to pass it up.

Wow! I can't believe you did that. I think you are the first ever to trade-in a Viper for a Vette. I hope they gave you at least 10K for the trade. Anyway take care. Look on the bright side you will see yourself several times a day now. I had to give you a hard time. Everyone else was being "politically correct" Take care and enjoy.

My Vette (an 02 coupe) sold yesterday. Saturday I met up with a bunch of the former Vette club at a cruise-in thingie. Most of them wouldn't speak to me. The Viper absolutely stole the show (only one there.) People just went nuts. At VIR track day last week, there was one Z06 among a half dozen snakes and a few Ferraris, looking decidedly out of sorts. When we last drove the Vette, both son and I were commenting on how much we were NOT going to miss it. Oh, a few good times, but there's a snake in the garage now.
Good luck with the Z. They're not bad daily drivers, and the small block can make some HP if you play around with it. Best bang for the buck, for sure.
But, once bitten, twice shy. You'll be back.

I would never trade my Viper for a Vette. I would trade my Vette for a Z06. Glad to see you stayed with American.

good move! Go from a 95 with no power windows to all the comforts of an 04... why not?!
but when ya can get into a Gen 2 a different snake all together.

Before I bought my Viper I was hesitating between these cars:
Ferrari 348tb 1991
Corvette Z06 2002
Mercedes CLK 500 2003
Viper ACR 2000

Obviously you picked one of the 4 best cars ... but you should have chosen the Viper ...

Congratulations! I wish I had done the same thing, I looked at them last year and decided to wait and look at the 2004 model, but unfortunately I just blew the motor in my 97 GTS so buying a new car is not in the works this year. If I had it to do over again I would have never brought the Viper and instead stuck with the Corvette. I have owned many Corvette's over the years and they have always run and handle great. Good Luck with your new purchase hope you enjoy it.

Why couldnt you just drive the 350Z as a daily, long haul driver?

I do drive the 350Z as my daily driver. But as I said, if something were to happen that I needed to drive my other car to work, the Z06 is a lot easier to live with on a 500 mile drive.
