Re: I\'m curious to know what NOS is like in the Viper
Mike L,
A window switch is used to operate a Nitrous(or other electroniclly activated system) throughout a preset rpm band. Window switches have been around for years for NHRA drag racers and are useful as safeguards against missed shifts, excessive wheelspin, etc. Typically they come with a range of plug in chips that activate and deactivate a system based upon user selected RPM.
A WOT switch actually engages a nitrous(or other electronically activated system)system. There are different types of activation switches.
The most simple and common is a microswitch under the gas pedal or attached to the bellcrank of a throttle body, that engages the system when it is tripped.
Our systems use a more modern switch that we call a WOT(Wide Open Throttle) switch. It actually reads TPS voltage from your car and engages and disengages nitrous based upon foot pedal applied voltage.
In any case you can't use a window switch by itself. A WOT switch of some fashion is still required for system activation.
Please call or email me with any questions concerning any facet of nitrous oxide injection for your Viper or other exoctic car.
