I\'m in trouble now. She just doesn\'t get it.

My wife gets all these things I call SUOs (Small Useless Object). She thinks this is a BFUO. I saw it on ebay, and had to get it.

It's a full size plastic Viper V10 cast from a real engine. It's got threads everywhere a real engine has them, so I can put on spark plugs, wires, etc. The heads and valve covers unbolt too. The valve covers are molded in red, but the rest is molded in black. I'll paint that aluminum. It doesn't have an intake manifold. Maybe I'll find a cheap one now that blowers are more common.

Anyway, now I gotta figure out what to do with it. I've seen a few v10's made into tables by putting a piece of glass over them. This is my leading idea. Since it weighs about 40 lbs though, I think I have some interesting opportunities. I might just hang it from the ceiling.

Got any other ideas? She is wrong, isn't she?

Hey Andy, how's the MD weather for Vipering?

I think you can do a table, only concern I may have is if the glass slides around. Also concerned about the kid(s), I can't remember if you have one or two. Good luck with your wife and the plastic engine.

When I picked up my Viper from Woodhouse last July, Bill Pemberton showed me a Viper engine coffee table with a big thick sheet of glass on top of the Viper engine. Looked [******] impressive to me.

SUN RA KAT just gave me an idea, though it would be a project. If you want a higher table for whatever use, could possibly use outdoors. You can use it to decorate a table with a stand. If it's a stand that can unscrew from the base or top (preferably glass so you can look down over the valve covers). Then drill a hole throught the engine and slide over the pole.

That is cool! Make a table. Woodhouse has one in the service dept. waiting room. Although I think Woodies is real. His has headers, power steering pump, and all the goodies.

I paid $256.78 on ebay, plus $55 to ship it. It came dissasembled in two boxes. I think total weigh of each was around 30lbs. It was packded in that blow in foam stuff.

Anyway, the place is called P-Ayr. They make replica's of man different engines from the big 3, and HD. They have a web-site at http://www.payr.com I spoke with Dean, who I think is the principal. This one is a prototype, but I think he's making more.

Well, it's not a Viper motor, but after snapping the crank in my NSX 4 years ago, I made this durable table:

If I had a spare Viper motor around, I'd make a much bigger table out of it.

Ben, that looks great. How dod you mount the glass on the motor so that it doesn't tip/slide? I can't really tell from the picture. Did you make that bracket, or is it part of engine? The etching looks good too.

The brackets are actually C&C milled from aluminum with silicone cushions to support the glass. The legs are also aluminum and mounted to the factory oil pan location. The entire block is powdercoated red and then the cylinder walls and outer casts are polished. Not something you want to attempt to complete in an afternoon, but a conversation piece whe you're finished.

Now, if I could just finish up this couch.......................

Andy, I saw that motor on ebay as thinking about picking it up as well. I was going to about $100 but I think you wanted it more. I thought about how many nutty Viper owners would be bidding on it. Make the table it will be extremely cool.

Ben, That NSX table is unreal! Every car guy would love to do with a blown motor. You really went all out and it looks amazing.
