After a three month wait my flow bench finally arrived. I'm working on a banner to place here but for now here is the info:

This machine allows you to check/compare fluid flow, see the spray pattern and ultrasonic clean. Currently my charge is $12.00 per injector which is on the cheaper end compared to others that provide this service. Right now I will offer the Viper community a deal....I will do all ten injectors for $100. The Viper has to have the easiest injectors to pull of any car there is....even a cave man can do it ;) Turn around time will be very quick. I really believe this more important on Vipers than regular cars because of the few miles many of them get driven. If you have a forced induction car being built by a tuner.....make sure this gets done. All I'm looking to do is provide a service and eventually pay for the machine ($5,000)

Here is a run down of what will go on with a set of used injectors:

The testing will consist of, and with a test sheet showing:

1. Ohm test
All the below tests are run before and after ultrasonic cleaning
2. Open spray test (checking spray pattern, injector open 100%)
3. Leak test (injector closed w pressure on it)
4. Pulsed spray pattern tests:
. A. 600 rpm 3.0 milliseconds
. B. 600 rpm 6.0 milliseconds
. C. 600 rpm 12.0 milliseconds
. D. 2400 rpm 3.0 milliseconds
. E. 2400 rpm 6.0 milliseconds
. F. 2400 rpm 12.0 milliseconds
. G. 7200 rpm 3.0 milliseconds
. H. 7200 rpm 6.0 milliseconds
. I. 500 to 10,000 rpm acceleration up/down
5. Timed 100% open flow test, fluid measured
6. Timed pulsed test, fluid measured

unless you have rails and top feed injectors, then its alot harder...can you do top feed injectors as well? I seem to have to get mine cleaned every year. (I found out the hard way that you should not unplug the injectors when running a vec 2 to see which one is plugged- ended up frying my vec2)

I don't know that rails are that hard ;) Maybe an extra 10 minutes ? Yes, I can do top feed too.

Mine are a beetch, everytime i push the rails on I take a chunk out of the orings. I found the best are the Mopar "brown" orings. the black GM/universal ones are really hard to push on (not as plyable) I sent thru 20 orings last time...

You will like the machine. I have the NA8 that does 8 injectors at a time. Something I've noticed is the stock Viper injectors are usually in pretty good shape. The injectors used with a Roe SC get really dirty fast maybe due to the placement in the manifold.

Tony,
Very interesting. I'll definately give it a try when these new ones get older.

Tony, in the old days we would actually shim our spark plugs to face the opening of the intake for better ignition. Does anybody do that anymore?

Hey DY, I believe that's called "indexing" and if I remember right A while back someone did a check and came to the conclusion it wasn't worth the effort. No real benefit was achieved, but it's been a long time since that post(2 different boards ago ;) )

If I was interested in doing this where is the best place to get the replacement o-rings?

I have the lower o-rings in stock and can get the uppers. From my experience, the lower ones are prone to tearing when the injector is removed and the uppers are fine. The upper 0-ring is expensive, I would only replace it as needed.

Shimming plugs is bad for more than one reason, but with auto discount stores having e-z return policies, it's a snap to buy 2-3 sets and take the time to fit the ones that point towards the center the best. Keeping them clean until you know which ones you're keeping.

Anyone who writes it off as not worth the trouble is probably buying too much chrome for their car...

Stock and SS class winners go after every possible angle to be the best...

Have you tried lubricating the o-rings with "Parker O Lube" or "Parker Super O Lube" http://www.marcorubber.com/o_lube.htm

Just a thought.

Tony, On a stock Gen1 what is the easy caveman process to remove them?

Picture right out of the manual. I suggest a large screwdriver with large end. I pulled some out of an intake the other day that had been in for 60,000 miles. They took a bit of pressure and as they came out some of the lower o-rings tore (I have new lower o-rings) Be sure to use a shop towel over the injector when rotating it with pliers. Use the towel over the intake when prying the injector out. On the gen1 you may need to remove the two bolts holding the drivers side throttle bracket....you may want to scribe around those bolts to get the bracket back in the same exact position. It should be a 15 minute job.

Thanks Tony. Received my injectors back from Tony today. All packaged up nicely, numbered with paperwork on the flow rates before/after and even suggestions on where to place specific ones to help even out the ROE. Very pleased with the service/price/turn around/and attention to detail. Would highly recommend this service.

Found the old thread to send someone from another site/banner. Really really need a basic website :D

Have you thought about GoDaddy.com? I'm sure there's cheaper options out there, but when me and a buddy started up Total Sleep Solutions LLC a few years ago, it was dirt cheap to set up and host. It's not going to look like tirerack.com, but it will look much better than what you have now. :D
