Install night went well!!

Last night I put in a Roe Fan kit. New Door Hinge for the driver's side. And EBC Green pads in the front.

I knew the EBCs would be easy, and they were.

The Roe Fan Kit was simple also. The directions are GREAT! Pictures and all!! :2tu:

Then the Door Hinge---not as easy as 1,2,3...!! More like as easy as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10....!!! :p

I mean getting the hinge on and off was SIMPLE. But if you want the door to open and close, that's another story! :D
I had a friend's help, and the two of us just kept making adjustments, and realigning the door until we got it right! And we did! Might have taken 20 minutes of adjustments--loosening all the bolts on the hinge lining it up and trying it out.

All in all--Lots of fun. I am enjoying working on my GTS as much as possible and learning as I go! :2tu:

Thanks for the warning on the hinge. I am going to be doing my driver's side on Saturday. I will have a helper so hopefully it will go well. Sure will be nice to have the door stay propped open.

i enjoy working on my own car. How do you know when the hindge goes bad???My door is sagging and hitting the weather strip on teh bottom. i was told i have to adjust it but could it be just worn out?

It is worn out if the door will not stay propped open by itself. Wholesale price on hinge = $150 and each door seal is $225.

Sounds like it just need adjusting!

I knew mine was done when I opened it and it got stuck that way! :eek

Usually the hinge goes bad when the small metal piece that keeps it Positioned Open breaks. Which was my case.

I got my Hinge off the board here--Brand New for $75 shipped!! :2tu:

Roy, consider making a cradle for the door, then use a floor jack to hold it up...makes things MUCH easier, especially if you have to replace hinge by yourself.

I had the same problem a few years ago. The hinge overtraveled and got stuck open. I had to break the hinge to close the door. I think they redesigned the hinge so it shouldn't happen anymore.

what did you do, buy a Lemon?!! :D

I hope they fixed the hinge problem, that means I should only have to buy 1 more in the future then! :p

The hinge is okay. The door has dropped slightly so that is chirps like a bird going down the road. I was hoping to follow this short procedure:
close the door over a couple of tongue depressors or paint stirrers,
mark the hinges,
loosen and retighten.
Will this work for a small adjustment or will the door never close again?
