As required by Virginia International Raceway to get me as far as possible below my roll bar, I installed the Northwind Engineering (NWE) two-inch, non-adjustable seat lowering kits for both the driver and passenger side. To my surprise, I couldn’t be happier with the two-inch lowering kits. I previously had the NWE one-inch lowering kits installed, which was much better than OEM, but two inches down is better still, at least for this 5’9” guy. Now, if I sit up straight with my butt as far back as possible against the seatback, I look right out the center of the windshield (I was actually slumping a bit before with the one-inch kit), and I still have a slightly bent knee when I push the clutch to the floor (adjustable peddles help). I like the seat where it is, and nobody will ever move it out of the “sweet spot” again, hehe.
And I like being closer to the pavement and deeper in the car! I feel more a part of the vehicle for some reason.
And then there was the “accidental” benefit to installing the two-inch lowering kits. The stereo amplifier, which I had to remove from under the passenger seat to get the one-inch seat lowering kit to fit, now fits again under the passenger seat. It was the forward and aft adjustment mechanism on the one-inch lowering kits that required space under the seat that was used by the amp. The two-inch lowering kit doesn’t adjust and hence doesn’t use the amp space. It was a nice surprise.
Thank you JonB of PartsRack and Mike of NWE for scrambling to get the kits to me in a very short period of time!
