Wow, someone is finally going to try the V8 swap eh? That's going to be interesting to see. I can't say I agree with the idea, but it's not my car. You can easily make the V10 perform at Hellcat levels, but I guess maybe this is a cheaper way to get there?

I also can't say that I fully agree with the idea...
But let's say that at least there are 2 things I dig right there:
1. We stay in the "family" (DODGE)
2. At least it is not an EV conversion (this would really hurt..)

I am genuinely curious to see how this turns out if for no other reason than seeing how complicated a modern V8 swap might be. I know I have seen drag Vipers that have V8s in them, but those are getting to be borderline tube frame race cars. I believe the old Sir Hiss was a gen 2 style Hemi wasn't it? If at some point way down the road the V10 becomes near impossible to find parts for, this could be a tempting way to keep a Viper on the road generations from now. I just spun some rod bearings on my car again and snapped a rod in the process that gouged the block. Luckily I think it was pretty superficial damage that can be saved, but if I had put a window in it it's getting harder and harder to find gen 3 blocks to replace it with. Maybe someday the aftermarket will catch up with parts though.

On one hand... cool. On the other hand, unless doing something like bringing over the ZF 8-speed as well and converting to a paddle car... seems like there are plenty of options retaining the V10 instead.

Yeah, I just don't think I can see a cost benefit at this point. For the money it's likely going to take to do all the conversion and other work required, it certainly seems like you could easily get Hellcat horsepower out of the original V10 for that. Maybe not on the earlier cars, but it still feels like the V10 platform is more than capable, so it's not like a V8 swap is going to give you a better engine to work with, just a more common one.
