Our very own and only VCA Irishman, Joel took 'Skunk' his recently modded DC Performance GTS across from VOI to Nevada to compete in the Silverstate Shootout, part of the big 'Classic' weekend.

And succesfully competed and won the cup :2tu:
The Shootout was supposed to be a standing start one mile sprint, but was cut to a shorter distance due to 45mph cross winds.

Skunk looks very stealthy

and was totally under-estimated by the other competitors including a japanese team 15 guys strong, running a tweaked 350Z.

Not bad for a 900+ bhp road car driven to the event and then driven back to LA,
apprantly averaging around 20mpg on the return journey to !! sweet.

Congrats and well done DC Performance and Joel :headbang:
another superb victory for VIPER :usa:

Thanks to everyone who helped out, and to the organisers of the Silverstate for making the event happen, it was an absolute blast. The car performed flawlessly, even though the power was substantially down at the 6400ft altitude. We think that the normally aspirated and supercharged cars must lose a considerable percentage of their power, although turbo cars can at least maintain boost better, although probably affected to a slightly lesser extent. To be fair, the Japanese team were not far behind in a beautifully prepared 350z.
Also thanks to DC Performance for excellent preparation, just wish I had the opportunity to compete in more US events.

Ward - is that a real Texan rooster? :p

Yes..... you know how big they grow them in Texas...... Everything is bigger there. I also figured if they had a thirst that big, we could possibly VERY hungry!
