When I got my Viper none of my friends had one. All of them had Vettes just like I did. Now 2 of my friends have Vipers and third one is getting one. I think that it might be time for me to start saving for a Lambo. Now the car does not feel as exclusive but I still have a lot of fun driving it. Maybe a blower would make me feel better LOL. :D

I can count on one hand how many Vipers I have seen in my state in the last 3 years.

Still rare around here. Lol.

Just being out and about, I can easily say that I've seen the same amount of Vipers as I have Lamborghinis - very few of both. And I'll tell you this, it has been way more exciting to see the Viper each and every time.

There are a lot of them here in Dallas, but I very rarely see them out. I literally see more Ferraris around here than Vipers! I've got several friends that have Vipers, and I still feel OK about myself. lol

MORE vettes are made EACH YEAR, than ALL the Vipers made since DAY ONE!!
When I had the vette, I passed myself several times a DAY!
In the past YEAR, I have seen ONE viper, and that was MINE!!
So where I live I might as well have a McLaren F1, Lambo or Ferrari Enzo as far as the looks and questions I get when driving or fueling up. See, what you should have done is NOT told your friends how good the Viper is. I tell all of mine that it's a terrible ride! LOL!!!! Hehehehe <:)

Adding up the total Viper count through 2001 I came up with 16,327. Add in what,- 1000 2002s and there's your grand total.

nah, its you. if you bought a viper to be exclusive, well, thats your right but youre in for a let down cause while we're (viper owners) a small crowd, we're far from exclusive. buy it to enjoy it and because you like it. period. Any other reason (fastest, quickest, most HP, etc) will eventually let you down and leave you hangin like the fat girl at prom.

Florida,
I think we all bought it for the looks and exclusiveness as the deciding factor. You can make a 9 sec pinto but who cares ??

Sometimes when you get a car like a Viper and you drive it around people notice it and either drive their Viper since they hadn't thought of it, or else buy one.

You may have started a trend.

I see MAYBE 1 Viper every 4 months or so. I have seen them more here lately with the nice weather and summer being here and all but, other then that, not to often. I see more Ferraris and Lamborghinis in a year then I do Vipers. The cars I see the most are H2's and Vettes. Im tired of seeing them too. Even if I did see a Viper every day, it would NEVER get old. :D

Eldiablo.......Keep the Coolest car on the planet! If you are thinking differently, get a DLM S/C !!! or another brand tuner, and maybe that would get ALL you attention back!!! heheheh...From what I read on this site about S/C and T/T ...I am thinking about going for it too!

Hey, how about adding some Stripes to your Viper? I hear that they are worth about 25 rwhp! There ya go.......Stripes and a Super Charger...done deal!!!

Best, Dave

It's you. Besides, if you got a Viper for 'exclusitivity' then you got it for the wrong reason.

I was getting ready to say the same thing.

No offense, but is having an exclusive car more important to you than the performance of the car?

Right on Nexus,

I like fast cars, therefore I bought a fast car.

That it happens to be cloaked in the one of the most intimadating designs ever produced is merely a side bonus, and at times a hinderance.

Guys if I just wanted a fast car I would keep the Vette and Mod it. It would cost less than new a Viper. I wanted an exlusive and fast car plus I loved the looks. Would you buy a Vette if it was faster than a Viper?.....I don't think so.

My fuel pump went out so I took my car into my local Dodge dealership Thursday. There were 3 other Vipers in the shop (one was in the collision center). I really didn't feel that special pulling in with the other cars around, but I just view it as a way to meet some other owners. The dealership let me leave them info about our local VCA.

Genx - I can't agree with you more. Some times I just want to head out and enjoy the car - Friday and Saturday nights around here are VERY tough for that. If I head out on those nights, within 5 minutes I'm fighting off a street race or attracting the attention of every single cop around. :(

I'd buy a Vette if it was faster than the Viper. No question. The current Z06 isn't quite there yet. ;) But I love the Viper - I won't ever replace...I'll just have to build a bigger garage.

For me, it is all about performance with each of the cars I own. I know I'll get some shaking heads for saying this but there are times I wish that the Viper was more widely accepted and not stared at all the time! It attracts all sorts of attention - some good, some bad. I'm probably one of the few here that are uncomfortable with the amount of attention it receives at times. I like that it makes some peoples day - I don't like that it's the measuring stick by which every other car seems to need to compare against on the street nor do I care for the police escorts late at night when I just want to play by myself.

I love to look at the Viper...don't get me wrong. But driving it is 99.8% of the reason I bought it. 0.01% is about future collectibility. The remaining 0.01% is about how it looks to me.

My ZR1 isn't all that much slower than my near stock Viper and it gets zero attention on the street - it's just another red C4 to most people. I LOVE that combination myself. I'm not always out looking for a race or out to turn heads - when I'm out, I'm usually out to just enjoy my machine and often other people's attention gets in the way of that. Gotta see about building that private track some day...

But like someone else said above - people buy these cars for all different reasons...it's pretty cool that the Viper offers enough of them to satisfy a lot of different folks!

lol at RedSnake...exclusive in what zip code? ;)

heh - this is a PERFECT post

I don't have a Viper yet, but my home based business is going WAY better than ever expected, and of course to keep Uncle Sam away I need a 100% write off, so buying an exotic car, soley for the business, is my plan.

The hard part: deciding which one. My four options are/were:

Boxster
Viper
Prowler
SLK

but I've got to be honest, I think I'm goingto go with the Prowler, only for the exclusivety of it. I've seen so many [******] SLKs, Boxsters, and yes, even Vipers in my area (Rochester, NY) that it makes me want to puke just thinking of getting one.

The Prowler may be only a V6 (along with the Boxster and SLK) - but there's people that still don't even know what kind of car it is (can anyone say that about the Viper???)

just my $02 though

later dudes
rich

(Bill & Ted moment there ;-)

16,000 Vipers, at least a thousand wrecked and gone, 4000 overseas and Canada, 250 Million people In the USA, I would say you are one of the 100th of a percent of the nations population to own such a beautiful and exotic car..Count your blessings...00PROWLER...

Rich, do you consider a Boxster or SLK an exotic? Ugggggh, OK, the boxster would have been for your wife?!
Then again, if seeing some Vipers in your neighborhood wants to make you puke, then maybe you should get the Boxster!!

it's you.
where I live, I see about 100 Boxsters every single day, several hundred 911's, dozens of H2's, many Ferrari's, a couple of Murcielago's, etc. I see another Viper about once every couple of weeks. This is not including the times I go to the track - I always see a handful of Vipers there, which is a very good thing!
So don't even think of buying another car. I can't believe you even mentioned Prowler (or Boxster) in the same sentence!
