I always thought the stock airbox on a GEN 2 was pretty good to begin with. Just add smooth tubes and K&N's. Maybe remove the baffle and that's it.

I could be wrong though. If I am someone let me know.

over $400 for some tube, filter & plastic box? ***. is this normal? also, i have seen pics of this setup without any box. just the tube & filter. advantages / disadvantages?

The stock intake is a very nicely engineered piece, smooth tubes and K&N filters as SILVER SNAKE suggested.

The stock box might have been better if the back, where the tubes connect were tapered instead of squared. I don't see where this K&N box would be much improvement.

I was all ready to buy this until Schulmann on this board said it will not fit later model GEN II's. I believe he had a '99 ACR and he could not get it to fit. I just got some Polished Smooth Tubes and K&N Filters from Parts Rack. They go on easy, look great, and need no modification to your car. :2tu:
