Well, its been a LONG 4 1/2 months since my wrecked SRT showed up at my door. It's been a long hard project thus far, and after getting the front frame rails straightened out, replacing the inner fenders, the trunk tub, the radiator, oil cooler, power steering cooler, AC condensor, and a number of miscellaneous pieces, I was finally able to fire it up.

While I was optimistic about it starting up - I was shocked when it fired right up, not even a sputter, it fired right up! Even happier that there were no fluid leaks. After a few warm up "Ghetto Laps" around the block, I had to test out the V10 and experienced my first dose of wheel hop. My son and I both have that VIPER SMILE and enjoyed more than one HIGH FIVE!

Now the real fun begins as I start the assembly process of Jeff Lemke's Street Serpent Body Kit. Also will have the hard decision on paint color. I have narrowed it down (at least for the moment) to a dark red candy or copperhead orange with black stripes. Can't wait to post updated pics of the project/

Invisible air filters - I like! ;) Seriously, congrats on the project thus far. Can't wait to see it evolve with the Lemke bits and pieces...

As for colors, I like the idea of dark candy apple: There are already copperhead orange Vipers out there, but VERY few dark candy apple red. Indeed, the only one I have ever seen was in my driveway today:

Looked awesome!!

Keep us updated on your progress, and congrats on such a quick fire up. :2tu:

Congrats and great job so far......as for paint....what about a complete vinyl overlay of snakeskin over black paint? If memory serves me right Hot Rod tv did this with their Nova drag race car, although they went with the american flag motif. I believe the cost was about $800 for the entire car....and if in a few years you decide to change the look, peel off the vinyl (there shouldn't be any stone chips as the vinyl served as a protective coating against stone chips and scratches) and get a new vinyl overlay.

Regards,
Aaron

VERY COOL. I can't wait to see this car and I think the candy apple red is a pretty good choice. Looks good so far, keep us posted.

Awesome project to have...

Call Jeff Lemke at APS for the custom body panels now:D

Here's his link to his site:

They have some killer stuff for the Vipers IMO:omg: I spoke to him the other day about my Gen 2 GTS.

I will be going with their side exhaust conversion for the Gen 2 with the Corsa Side exhaust kit. Looking forward to your progress:2tu:

Well, I've got the bug to get this thing going - so I took out the body panels to at least get a little sneak peek. It looks pretty cool and I really like the more aggressive lines of the Serpent kit.

Quick mock up just setting the panels in place:

Y2K5SRT - Invisible air cleaner ? My son is trying to talk me into fitting in a Paxton and skipping the stock air cleaner assembly altogether.:) Funny story as we took it out for a spin yesterday - had a bird fly up right in front of the Viper and we both looked at each other and joked about the bird getting sucked in!

It's looking more and more like a dark candy red is the color I'll go with. I'm shooting for as dark a RED as I can get without it looking maroon/burgundy.

That looks like it was a fun drive. You must have got some interesting looks from the neighbors.
