Re: Just ordered an 04\' Viper!

Hello everyone, thanks for all your advice. I contacted my local Viper Club VP (thank you Les Quam!) and was told I should not pay anything over sticker (except sales tax and registration). Basically I was being ripped off $9000 from this dealer.

I stopped the check and proceeded to get it back from the Dodge dealer. They were VERY RUDE and told me they would not give it back to me. They simply stated it is non-refundable, and began started laughing at me!

I ordered this Viper last Friday (August 1st) which was three days ago. Nothing happened over the weekend so its not like they are going to be stuck with the car or anything. They did not give me a formal contract or anything, just a deposit slip receipt. They stated the contract had to be approved from DC first and then I would be mailed it and would have to sign it.

I once again sincerely thank all of you for your help and advice. You all saved me nearly $10,000 and a lot of hassle and headaches with these liars.

Les Quam- it would be nice if you can give me your phone number in case these crooks try to bring me to court. They have no grounds but who knows what they will try to pull.

Well, back to square one. :(

Not square one Rich, your starting off fresh with connections via this thread alone that know more about Vipers than nearly anyone in North America. That's fact!

Let Janni, Les, Bill and everyone else lay it on the table for ya, and your up 10K by putting up this thread, if that's not a sigh of relief, I don't know what is!

Now that you are informed, get out and get one! Keep us posted, and congrats on living the dream, enjoy it!

I will go on the record with Bill, the guy spent an hour talking about a car he sold a year ago that I was interested in buying privately from whom he sold to. Can you say class act in sales?? Oxy-***** in these areas.

Oh Jeez...here we go with another Pemberton love fest. I've barely recovered from the last time the legion of ***** and ***** groupies gathered round the campfire to hold hands and sing Puff the Magic Dragon and eat them funny brownies. Now cuz ***** dented the composite on the ***** Wagon at Mid-America we all have to suffer through a reprise? Get a grip people, Pemberton puts his pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us. (After he puts on the Depends however). He sells CARS people...he hasn't solved world hunger, captured Osama or even offered to run for Governor in CA. Get a grip Viper Nation...the man is insufferable already. This thread is only going to make it worse.
BTW...is my white 04 in yet?

Re: Just ordered an 04\' Viper!

Well figuring that 7% tax on an $84,000 car is nearly $6,000, which brings the total to about $90,000, plus all the "fees" and shipping, $98,000 did seem a little high but not as exorbitant as some of you are stating. He did say that it would be delivered in some "special" enclosed car trailer which would be very expensive. This, to me, justified the $98k price. Am I really being taken here?

YES!! Though one local dealer here has a $35,000 add-on sticker on his showroom SRT.

Looked at my records and noted that the Destination (delivery) charge on the window sticker was $800 on my SRT-10...and while I wasn't present when it came off the truck, last I checked, all Vipers were still shipped from the factory via Reliable Trucking in enclosed trailers. If you order from Bill Pemberton at Woodhouse (closer to you) or John Gastman at Roanoke www.romocoinc.com , or some of the other Viper-friendly site sponsors here, you may end up paying them a bit to re-ship the car to you (via their own enclosed vehicle) but you might just save upwards of $8,000-10,000 (vs that $98-100k talk) on the vehicle and discover that elusive pleasure of dealing with an honorable car dealer (used to think that was an oxymoron).

Since it's apparent that no dealer can yet even place an '04 Viper order, I'd try to get my deposit back ASAP. I'm not sure how a delivery time can be promised to you and, furthermore, I wonder if Dodge has even made it known yet how they'll allocate 2004 Vipers to their dealers? I'd venture a guess that the experienced, high volume Viper dealers might have the upper hand in getting cars promptly (& in quantity).

PS Yes, MGW stuff is attractive & very well made: www.mgwltd.com

Here's hoping the stop payment worked.

It's hard for them to be successful claiming they'd be stuck with a car that they couldn't even have ordered yet.

Price. If you really don't care, that's cool. BUT the two month thing is not reality. There are MANY people here, and non Viper owners who could not get a 2003. They started adding thier names to dealers lists for a 2004 about TWO YEARS AGO. This means that, yes maybe, this dealership can negotiate it's way into getting one, but I'd tend to believe there are some salespeople in LAS VEGAS who might gamble?

Rich, I am on vacation but my cell is 702 219 0805. If you tell us who the dealer is in Vegas one of us in the club probably the president or someone who knows this dealer will call them and let the GM know the local club is going to spread the word locally and nationally unless this crap stops. These dealers can only pull this on the uninformed. I suggest you call Phil and meet him and some of the other club members for a brewski, they are really easy to get to know, no ego's just car guys. They will probably go over to the dealer with you to assist you with any problems. But if you tell me the dealer and salesperson we will make a call or pay a visit. I assure you they will not file suit over the stop payment.Call the boys I believe the next monthly meeting is coming up you will like everyone in the club, what a bunch of characters. Also their is a Dodge dealer in Phoenix named Bill Luke who the Arizona boys used to speak highly of I do not know if that is still the case.If you can find Tony Estes the former national viper President he knows personally of Luke Dodge and possibly could give you some advice. For what it's worth any viper I buy will be from woodhouse in the future.

I'm here in Las Vegas too and was curious to hear the name of the dealer you dealt with to order an '04. As another suggestion, you may be able to order an '04 through Painter's Sun Country Dodge in St George. They have a local lot here in town called Painter's Autoland - talk to Phil Painter or Jeff Peters (both at 702-641-9989) they may be able to help you out.

Also, can you tell me a little more about the local VCA chapter here in town? I've met Marko once when he was at one of our Mopars of Las Vegas events (back when I had no Viper but instead a couple of Chargers). What sort of benefits does the VCA membership afford one? What kind of things do you guys do locally?

Re: Just ordered an 04\' Viper!

The dealer I had this horrible experience with was "Tom Saitta's Dodgeland". When I had enough with the ignoranus and sardonic sales people and staff, I asked to speak to Saitta directly. They then told me that no one has ever seen, heard, or known of this guy. For all we know he could be Osama Bin Laden.

The VCA here in Vegas has been very helpful in this matter. The Vice President has called me on numerous occasions to offer all the advice and help he could. He hooked me up directly with Fitzgerald in which was a pleasure to deal with.

If it wasn't for this forum, I would have been screwed out of 10 grand. If it wasn't for my local VCA chapter, I would have not of purchased this car. The people here at this forum and the Vice President of the local Las Vegas VCA sold another Viper for Dodge. Will they get a commission? Probably not. But when I send a letter directly to the CEO of DC they will surely get the recognition they very rightfully so deserve.
