The Toyos actually wear longer and are the current tire for the World Challenge Series. We have run both on our Spec Miata and the Toyos are good for
another full weekend of racing. I have driven them to the racetrack and back home numerous times. Plus, when they get down to looking like slicks
is still tread underneath - at this point the Kumhos are long gone. Track consistency is more stable, and the tire will hold up to a full 30 minute session
with no problem, whereas the Kumho has a tendency to get greasy. Bob Vilven at Vilven Tire ( they supply all of the World Challenge cars ) will sell them
unshaved, but you must request this , as common practice is to shave all tires. If you are Autocrossing or Roadracing, primarily, it is best to do this ,
anyway. If you just want a stickier street tire, then request the full tread. They are more expensive than the Kumhos, but they do last longer, so that
is the benefit. Plus for track guys, the consistency is an added benefit for slithering a Snake around a road course.
