The Toyos actually wear longer and are the current tire for the World Challenge Series. We have run both on our Spec Miata and the Toyos are good for
another full weekend of racing. I have driven them to the racetrack and back home numerous times. Plus, when they get down to looking like slicks
is still tread underneath - at this point the Kumhos are long gone. Track consistency is more stable, and the tire will hold up to a full 30 minute session
with no problem, whereas the Kumho has a tendency to get greasy. Bob Vilven at Vilven Tire ( they supply all of the World Challenge cars ) will sell them
unshaved, but you must request this , as common practice is to shave all tires. If you are Autocrossing or Roadracing, primarily, it is best to do this ,
anyway. If you just want a stickier street tire, then request the full tread. They are more expensive than the Kumhos, but they do last longer, so that
is the benefit. Plus for track guys, the consistency is an added benefit for slithering a Snake around a road course.

Ask for Bob Vilven , but anyone should be able to help.

I'm on my second set of Kumho's on the rear of my RT/10. They are VERY sticky. I wouldn't recommend anyone use Kumhos on the rear with OEM tires on the front. The understeer/plowing is tremendous with that setup. I actually managed to get 5,000 miles or so out of the first set I think but that was with only 1 autocross and not all that much spirited driving. I will also say they ARE dangerous in the rain when cold, shaved or not.

I did have one question...does anyone use traction enhancer with the Kumhos? Would it make them TOO soft?

Matt:leaving the OEM tires on.

I've been told many times this is a big "No, No". Might want to look into/reconsider this.

If you do end up going this route please post up your evaluation.

I just bought the 3M protector film from Eastwood also. I installed it on the two back wheels wells. The package of film will only do two wheel wells. If you are planning to mount the tires on both front and back, buy either 2 or 3 packages. Make sure you use their suggestion and use a 50/50 mix of water and alcohol to lubricate the film so that you can slide it into position.
