Hi Terry, what a scare! Really makes you re think life and what matters huh, sorry you had to deal with it, all the very best of health from now-on.

Not read all the posts, but make sure they carotid duplex you, not always a clott or a bleed, sometimes can be a bit of debris breaking off (laymans terms) from the arterial wall (I'm in the proffession). Get the right treatment, and get back to full fitness ASAP to enjoy famly, freinds and Vipers. It's not till you get a scare of it being taken away from you, that you really value things in life more.

Terry,
I haven't visited this board in a while, but I could't agree with you more. Six years ago (age 55) I found out completely by accident that I had a 99% blockage and had a stent put in the next day. I have since gotten into physical fitness much more (about 3 times a week) and also went on the South Beach Diet and lost 17 lbs and feel great. BP is down, so is cholesterol (134) with exercise, diet and meds as well. I am now semi retired, have just moved from Michigan to Florida, and took the Viper with us. You have to take care of yourself, you owe it to your family if no one else. Get out there and enjoy life, it's too darn short to do any thing else. (Guess I should change my signature, don't live in W. Michigan any more.)

Great to hear you are ok Terry,

Well I do not want to get into a subject that can be a little toucy, but growing up in Europe and spending 16 years in the US, have made me understand why a lot of people in the US are at high risk for heart problems. I am not at all trying to imply that Europeans are "better" people in any way, but I do believe we might be a little more "disiplined" in how we take care of our bodys. Many of you have probably been to Europe and have probably noticed that many people are walking and biking more than they use the car, and that people are much more active and involved with activities than here in the US. Food is also a major difference, maybe not so much fastfood and much more healthy food available at the stores. The goverments in most countries are also activly involved in edjucating people in better eating habits, and are suporting many programs that promots fitness and healthy activities. I personally believe that healthy food and a regular activity of some kind of workout, is the absolute best medicine for our bodys, and will benefit all of us in a positive way in the long run. Not just benefit our selves but also the whole population. Now to be totally honest, I have seen an increase in weight between our younger population in Europe throughout the last few years, and I strongly believe that comes from fast food chains that are rapidly growing in Europe, and the lack og excersise. And the number one enemy of our society today are STRESS.

Kurt:

You are exactly right. I have many European clients/friends. When I was younger I had this image 0f beer belly Germans throwing down liters of of heavy beer. Then I started to notice the guys I was drinking with over there were not overweight and generally knew when to say when both in eating AND drinking. They traditionally pay much more attention to their bodies over there. ( I chalk some of that up to greater ****** in public areas than here --but that is just my theory)

Some things we export are great (freedom, Rock & Roll) and some not so good because you are also right in that in some areas, the traditional ethnic restaurants are being replaced by chains which sell fatty foods etc.

Terry..you were imagine Octoberfest, and I promise you that you will find quite a few beerbellyes during this yearly event :D ..but then again it is a blast and should be something that every beer loving person should experience at least ones during his or her lifetime :2tu:

Hope you have a nice and safe christmas Terry..and take your Viper for a ride to your closest Costco, and buy yourself a case of Samuel Adams winter classics..in that case you will find some of the best tasting beer I have ever bought, and it is American :usa:
