I thought I read once there was a difference in the half shafts, but can't find that reference, may be I'm got that wrong.

There are a few I can think of that may be of no concern: The chassis of 2009 Vipers have been reinforced slightly to meet updated federal crash standards. Most/all 2009 Vipers were painted by a new vendor. This is not a knock on the new guys but Saleen did fantastic paint work. The 1->4 skip shift can be defeated on 2008 Vipers without setting a check engine light. This is not possible in 2009 without changing the PCM to the MOPAR off road/racing PCM.

BTW: the halfshafts changed to solid units for all Vipers in mid April 2008.

Just some slight computer modifications to engine management, to the drive by wire, and small build upgrades, but essentially the same car. (just a year newer).

You can save some money on the 08 as some feel uncomfortable buying the first year of any new Generation, but the cars are pretty much the same.

When the cars jumped from 06 to 08 is when the serious upgrades were made.

Ahh, thanks, I knew there were a few little things, and that clears up the shafts, I'll keep that in mind.

I'm finding the price diff on 08 vs 09 to be $4-7K, so it's really something to think about considering the mod money the 08 would free up, but I'd want solid shafts - I mean if I'm going thru this updating anyway. Seems to be some limits on colors with verts, I'm only interested in verts for this car, it appears you can have any color you want right now as long as it's red ... not my 1st choice. Want black or silver, but .....

my o9 seems stronger/snappier in a heat soak from my 08. may have better computer program, or maybe the motor was born better

Yes you do want the solid shafts, mine is an early built '08 and I broke one on a hard launch.
So, 08 built April or later...date is listed on the driver's door sticker.

No longer true, happily. I run the skipshift eliminator on a stock 09 PCM, no CELs.

I noticed last night the difference between my 08 and 09 that the hood/fenders on the 09/10 changed from the 08 and prior.

08 fenders have the slots for the rubber "bushings" for the hood (that always seem to come off)

09 fenders do not have these slots.

09 hoods have long foam strips on the hood to support it instead of the rubber bushings on the fender
