Locked out, no fob, is there a way???

My bro doesn't have his key fob, just the key (don't ask why).
The alarm has been set and tripped, is there a way to reset without the fob so that the car can be driven.
PM my if anyone knows of a work around.

Also wondering if anyone has bought one of these remotes on Ebay ... 02 2002 DODGE VIPER GTS RT/10 KEYLESS KEY REMOTE FOB

for $75 and if it was easy to program?

try disconnecting the battery by taking off the terminal under the hood for a few seconds and then reconnect it
put the key in the ignition and see if it will start

Thats simple, if the alarm has been tripped, and you don't have a fob (or the battery is dead in the remote) then open the glove box, and insert the key to the hole (it's on the 'roof' of the glove box) and turn the key... it'll disable the alarm.

Problem solved, sort of.
We took the EEM out of my car and swapped it into his, sent him on his way with my fobs.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. It's easy to see why they put the switch in the glove box on 98s and up.

Just a follow up, and for anyone who searches this in the future.
There is no way, without dealer intervention (or a different EEM/fob set), to bypass or reset the alarm without the proper fob(s) in hand.
This applies to the pre-98 GenII's, at least.
That's not to say it cannot be done, if anyone knows of a way, keep it to yourself!
That's not the kind of info that should be "out there" for anyone to see.

I have a 1996 GTS:

Is there a pic of this "roof" key slot in the "glove box?" There is a rear console storage area with door - is this the "glove box?" Also I have the FSM and there is no mention of this feature.

I'm dealing with a bizarre occurrence:

*) Parked and locked car
*) 6 hours later security system alarm goes off (horn flashing lights)
*) KeyFOB does not unlock door
*) Manually open door
*) Start car successfully
*) Alarm still going off (lights flashing)
*) Alarm stops after a bunch of minutes passed
*) KeyFOB does not unlock door

According to FSM, the PCM should not have allowed engine to start.
The KeyFOB is not disarming - appears to be doing nothing.

Would like to know what I'm dealing with. Obviously could simply be a KeyFOB problem but if the PCM is allowing engine to start (and it is not supposed to) that sounds troublesome.

Do any of the other functions of your key fob work (like locking the door and setting the alarm)? Kind of wondering if you either lost sync with the fob or just have a dead battery on it. I agree that it's still odd that the car started without being disarmed though.

Your 96 does not have the alarm reset key cylinder in that glovebox. That did not appear until.1998.
