Funny story: First time I went to check my oil and I forgot to turn the alarm off, I discovered that the horn for the alarm is placed only inches from your ear when unlatching the hood.

I actually had this piece made out of hardened stainless when she first posted it. It works but it won't stop someone from poping it open if they really want to get under the hood. Here's why.

1) The handle is plastic and can be bent or cut off.
2) The piece has to be made perfectly to remove "play" in it or it won't work.
3) The piece doesn't cover the screws that hold the entire latch assembly. Unscrew the screws, lower the entire latch assembly and "pop".

Based on the above I decided against drilling the latch and everything even when I rent out the car so often. Rest assured that the alarm will sound if the hood is opened with the alarm armed.

How about the other Viper renters..... "Viperrenter"?

Few pics of the bracket I made and padlock. Does the job to stop passers by from poping the hood. If you do a search on previous posts, you'll see a bit of a write up I did on how I fitted it / it works etc! Good luck.

Why not use Moroso hood pin kit #2189 in your Summit and Jegs catalogs. Hood pin kits are breathtaking on any year Viper! Take your Dewalt with a 1/2 inch masonry bit and done!

Available also from the Partsrack....if it fits on a Viper....more than likely we have it!
