Yeah the price was wrong. LOL!

I am hooked, what can I say. VIP was a funny show, especially when they had Pam in the drivers seat. I just could not stop cracking up when they tried to make her seem like she was doing the stunt driving. Man that just brought back memories.

Too bad that you have to pay tax on cars that you win on game shows. How much tax would you have to pay for a free Viper? $40k?

Depends on your state. I would pay just under 5K on a 74K car. I could deal with that.

I remember a while back when Price is Right got into trouble for giving away vehicles that the winners couldnt afford. I cant remember all the details, but seems like a guy won a Wonderlodge and couldnt afford the taxes, got in all sorts of financial trouble and sued them for misrepresentation that he "won" the vehicle lol

I do not think you just pay the sales tax, if I recall correctly, vehicles, when won, are declared as income on your income tax form, so in essence you made an extra $75,000 taxable at 35% so about $27,000 plus sales tax.

Winnings if you accept them, per the rules you pay California State tax and if living outside Cali you pay your state taxes also. A true double whammy for out of staters. Plus of course your standard income tax also. A neighbor of mine won the showcase had to be very selective on what they accepted or otherwise they would be taxed to death. Out of about 60K of winnings they only took a tandem axel pop up trailer worth 16K and the cash they won.

I was thinking about this the other day, the CC raffle and my personal situation.

No sale = no sales tax. Not DOT legal, so no trip to the DMV. No bill of sale, no title, no plates, no inspection, no goverment involvement other than a possible 1099 in February?

No State income tax in Texas.

Federal income tax bracket 28%..... If you are in the 35% bracket, taxes on a Viper will not be much of an issue for you. Could probably pull that much from the couch cushions.

Everything else is a payroll tax, so it doesn't apply.

I'm thinking 28% is the tax number for me. Anyone out there with some more insight?

Actually from what I recall Keith there's been 2 vipers on the price is right. The one in the vids is the same one and there's been a black SRT on there once.

The guy who won the viper is from Ohio, and he still has it. He is not a VCA, but he does drive it.

Yeah I do recall being told that a black SRT was on there. Missed the episode unfortunately. The thing that threw me off, is that I thought they were the same RT but one has a wing and one does not.
