Looking for a copperhead

I'm looking to buy a 2005 Copperhead with low miles. Any idea what a fair market price would be. There are several for sale, but many seem to be overpriced for todays market.

You will soon be bombarded with a million opinions ( often from folks who have never even owned a Viper ) and the main item you should be looking for is true condition. Ask a ton of questions and get the car viewed underneath on a rack. Get a qualified Viper Tech to check out the car , and ask him as many questions about his qualifications ,as you do the about the car, since unfortunately there are very few top notch Snakehandlers in the US.

A Viper with the same miles could vary $5,000 or more, based on the way it was taken care of , maintained, driven, etc., though many spend plenty of money on this premium car and are one dimensional in their questioning --------how much can I buy it for. In many cases the answer to that is found after the purchase, as the new owner starts refinishing rims, changing fluids , repairing accidents that don't show up on Carfax, etc.

Miles are one indicator of value with a Viper, as they mimic Ferraris and Lambos for higher prices due to low miles. It is not an indicator of durability , but the fact that many cars are not driven alot.

Good luck and work in a range, but market conditions are always being bandied around by buyers ( only human nature ) , and frankly it has appeared that things are changing as we speak ( often due with Spring approaching ) , so with the 2010 being the last year for a long time ( and maybe forever ) , there are many that think the Viper is poised to go back to it's normal resale quite soon.

Ive been watching these for awhile too...this is one of the newer vipers i would be willing to own if i got rid of mine. what i've noticed is, they are holding there value a little better than the other 2005's that are just a regular edition...so if you are trying to compare them to a regular 2005 srt10 they will be priced at least 5k-10lk more...there are several special additions that year ( i think) the mamba was finishing up its run and the vca edition was out that year also...the mamba will be a little more abundant since they made them for two years and made more of them per year than the copperhead...so imo i would check out the prices of these two other editions, and judge from there...the mamba might be a 3k-5k cheaper price than a copperhead and the vca edition should be right around the same price as a copperhead, or sometimes a little more, just b/c of the rarity of it. mind you this is only an opinion...but don't always go for the cheapest car...and definitely listen to mr pemberton he is a major site supporter and has lots of knowledge on these cars!

You will pay anywhere from 30k up to 60k for a copperhead. As bill stated its all about condition. If you want one that has never seen rain or gravel, just garage floor or show room floor you will pay more. If you plan on driving it, look for one in used condition with a few more miles on it and you will be somewhere in the 40k range. I bought mine when prices were at an all time low and I paid in the 30k range for mine. But i knew I was going to drive the piss out of it. Mine had all the little stuff that goes wrong, fixed. New motor from Arrow, new rear end with 3.55 gears, RT highflow cats, Corsa Track, K&N, and Mopar computer. Those items sold me on the car. The few scratchs that were here and there. I knew i would put them on it anyway, but those help with the price. The best advice i could give you is if you want a show stopper, Sunny weekend car, look close to 50k range, or a used that your going to drive with some wear for a little less. I put alot of miles on my copperhead last year, and plan for the same. I just pulled it out of the garage now that the snow is clear and put close to 250 miles on it since last thursday

As I've seen the Copperheads are holding value fairly well. If you can get one in good condition for under 50k I think you are doing ok. Most seem to be in the upper 40s to low 50s.

Bought ,sold ,help broker MANY Vipers over a few year period.The easyiest way to do it is find out what the car is in GALVES for (GALVES IS TRUE DEALER WHOLESALE)and simply add on 10% for retail .In todays market place ONE IS DOING really well if THEY CAN GET 10% OVER.

This formula aint working for me right now. I'd like to get a Slate Grey 06 vert for low $40's but it seems they and most other 06's are no lower than $48K on the usual sites. Likewise no low mile decent 05's available close to 40K, ar least not within my driving range.
BTW, I did a 24 hr access to the Galves site and they wouldn't give me a price for an 06 or 08 vert..

The 08 are not yet printed BUT the 06s are there as a few months ago i helped broker a 06 coupe (in there for 42 ).As fas as the fcrmula asking and getting are too different things .A seller may ask whatever they want .Galves is regarded by dealers as true wholesale (as a matter of fact in this economy certain dealers  will give a few grand UNDER GALVES because if the car does not sell in a few weeks they take it to MANHILM and depending on the number of trips that can get costly in time and money)and to pay more than 10%over that (to me at least) is crazy .

That's why I asked a realistic price for my SSG($64K), and it sold in a couple of weeks. From my Real Estate background I learned to price things right, or else they sit and get "dated" or worse yet questions begin to rise as to why it's not selling(whether it's true or not).

I think that when you have deceided to be a buyer of a Viper and you know what color (for sure) you only want, all these special editions and low color cars become unimportant. They do not set the price standard for anything but being a used Viper. If you find your car and color and it is worth trying to buy it. YELLOW will always bring BIG DOLLARS!!!!

Maybe the ones you know dont but the ones i know SURE AS HELL DO .Since you answered i will put you on the spot are you telling me if i were to come to you to buy a NEW Viper with a trade in predicated on money of the purchase price EQUAL TO tripple net (invoice minus holdback )you would give me more THAN Galves.I would BET you would not.(You would value the trade in more BUT DEFINATELY not sell me the Viper for invoice minus holdback.

I have found the EXACT SAME THING.On 08 for example nice low mileage stripped cars will sell for mid 60s above that they just SIT UNTILL THE SELLER GETS REAL.
