Hi, I live over in Commerce Township, Michigan. I'm not far from you. E-mail me and I'll see if I can help you out. I've got some basic mods that you would probably want to have on your Viper also. You might consider joining the local chapter of the VCA too. Our website is Motor City Viper Owners .

Hey Don,

See you got the Modena, very cool. What is the F1, paddle shifter? Last time I saw you you had the Steel Grey RT with some nice mods and stripes. Look forward to seeing the Ferarri and your new Viper, maybe at the Van **** Dodge car show this Saturday with the Ferarri?

Vipergts01 why don't you head down to the car show, we could figure out a time. Don you too. Email me .

Muz, some of the roads over here are pretty rough. They have been fixing a lot of the areas major highways in the last few years, but these are some of the worst roads I have seen in the US. The Viper handles it pretty good, although I have probably developed a few squeeks and rattles as a result. We get a lot of semi truck traffic here with all the auto assembly plants and parts suppliers over here. I also think the State of Michigan allows semi's to carry a lot more weight than other states.

The Woodward Dreamcruise is awesome though isn't it? I cruised down Woodward in my Viper during last year's Dreamcruise and it got a little old with just crawling along at about 2 MPH and everyone egging me on to do a burnout all the time. This cop up in Pontiac told me to spin my tires when the light turned green, and I must have spun my tires for about 100 feet. That was pretty cool of him. But, the cops around Birmingham were pretty stringent on that sort of activity. After having about 60 people on the side of the road egging me on to do a burnout, I obliged them. I look around for cops before I did it but didn't see any so I gave the crowd a show. Within seconds 2 cops came from out of no where on foot and approached my car. The one said that spinning your tires is like a $250 fine and a few points or something and he didn't suggest I do it again. Pheeew, I thought I had a ticket for sure because they were handing them out right and left to a everyone else. I decided to call it a night and got the heck out of there after crawling along in traffic on Woodward for about 6 hours or so. Saw lots of cool cars though and my Viper got its share of attention. It is kind of funny to have everyone taking pictures of your car and video taping it. This year I think I will leave the Viper at home and just watch from the sidewalk like all the other people.

I hope all of you are coming to the Viper Days event at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven this next weekend! It looks to be another great event! Stop by Autoform's transporter and see what they have going on. Take a look at some of Autoform's recent projects including Vision Racing's Yellow Viper, the Black Vision RS Viper driven by Howie Frank and Dave Held's GTS, just to mention a few. I believe you will also be able to see their Daytona24 package on Bernie Katz's prototype Daytona24. Even if you are not participating in the racing, you will have a GREAT time!

I hope to see you there!

Muz:
Tell Rob that I said hi. That poor guy must be quite annoyed with me. I was planning on going with Bill P or him for a '01 Red RT back in March, and he was extremely helpful answering all my questions (and you can't ask for a better service plan than his shop's). Anyway, the friday before I was planning on dropping off the deposit, I got 2 tickets (6 points total -- point total was 9), so I told him I had to wait to find out the verdict in court. Anyway, court case comes up in Sept. Can't exactly buy a Viper in the winter over here...*sigh* can't wait until next March when I give it a try again.

What color is yours again? I saw a Black one on my way out of town (Ford Rd) Friday, thought it might be you...

Don:
You don't happen to frequent the bahama breeze in Livonia do you? Every time I'm there I see a bunch of Ferraris (last time it was a black 360, a red 360 spider, and a yellow F355).

No vipers though

Brett, sorry to hear you weren't able to get that ticket situation taken care of, I was hoping there would be another Viper over here in the Canton area. I've got a blue and white GTS, so the black RT10 was someone else, but I was up and down Ford road several times today testing out the latest mods., what a great day for driving. There's another club get together coming up at the place in Milford. Drop me an email at work if you want to ride along. It'll give you a chance to see a lot more Vipers in one place before you get yours in March.

Don, I have a '97 GTS on the west side. Looking at a Ferrari hopefully this Fall. I've never had a chance to see the F1 style shifting paddle system, but would love to get your input and or see the car... Okay, I'd really rather see the car!

Could you email me with your thoughts on the paddels vs the stick. Thank!

Whoops, sorry about the spelling, my mind must have been rushing thinking about the Ferrari.... Of course I'll always have a Viper for it's pure power.

Muz, as you may know the Woodward cruise has become a several day affair. The club here (MCVO) has usually organized a club cruise night on that Friday, with the Saturday being a heavier cruise night. We have in the past established a Viper meeting point and reserved "corral" at one of the restaurants in the 13 mile and Woodward area. In terms of overheating, my car is fairly well modified, and I've never had a problem... it gets hot, but not to the point of overheating... and yes, the roads here ****!
