The dealer wants 46.5 for that car. no negotiation, read his detail. Thats 2 high for a 97 red. It would be a good deal for a blue/white. Wholesale on the car is about 37.

It sure does look like a great deal. Looks like its in mint condition. Even with twice as many miles I still think its a good deal. So your telling me a blue/white gts is worth close to 9k more then a red viper. I doubt it. There is no way it would sell for 37k. The price looks about right.

You didnt read what i wrote.I said wholesale on the red car is 37.0. I said 46.5 would be a good price on a blue/white. I didnt say wholesale on a blue/white would be 46.5. Wholesale on a blue/white is 42.5-43.0. Real world, thats the way it is. Retail on a red is about 4-5 less than a blue/white.

Now, I didnt know that. I just thought the price looked pretty good for a rather clean looking low mileage '97 GTS. I didnt mean to start anything. The only thing I didnt like about it was the Tweety Bird floor mats. lol...

That is not a bad deal at all. I am sure people get cheaper GTS's but if it is as advertised I think someone would be getting a very fair deal for the price and mileage. Now if the car has issues that is another story.

I didn’t know they gave wholesale prices by color. That is a new one on me.

Wholesale prices and retail prices are set on what the demand is for an item. The blue/white car is very sought after because of its rarity. It was the 1st GTS, and the last year of that color was 97. Red continues every year. Dont you think the yellow 94 is worth more than the black or red?Of course it is. The black srt is bringing more than the red or silver. Color is a factor in many cases, not all. There is no "BOOK" value on colors, but call anybody who makes a living selling VIPERS , and they will tell you about the law of supply and demand.Just the way it is.I was simply responding to a thread, and trying to give an objective opinion about the price of that 97 red GTS. I have very thick skin, like a snake. I can take the shots, but i was just trying to help. Really

Im not mad at your response to my post. I want to know good prices and bad prices. I understand fuly what you mean by what colors ask the most money. Maybe they should do away with red for a year or so. lol... The should also come up with some really radical colors like Lamborghini does. Just do that for like a year or two and then go back to plain jane colors. :D

I know that different colors garner different prices that are not under debate at all. I paid more for my color and I have no problem with that. What I was surprised to hear was you quoting wholesale values for different colors. I have seen dealer books and color is not one of the factors that determines price. We all know real world is different but how much different is hard to put a number on as it is not documented anywhere.

I am not bashing you just giving my $.02. As for the car in question… If it was purchased for the price listed the buyer would not be getting ripped off at all. I still believe it is a fair price, not the best ever, but fair.

Hey Dan. A good source is kellybluebook.com . They are very good with wholesale values. Edmonds.com is also good ,but a little overinflated on the wholesale end. Their retails seem to be in line.Nada.com is weak on vipers, but a good source otherwise.
