At today's AX, shift from 1rst to 2nd at mid-range engine RPM and nothing there... All the other gears work, no funny noises like broken pieces in the bottom, only a minor grindy-whine in 2nd (but no pull.) Sounds internal

I'll pull it out, anybody know what I might be looking for? Thanks.

I've got belly plate/driveshaft/torque arm/wires out of the way, but the manual says I need tool #6638 to disconnect the hydraulic clutch line from the release bearing. Anybody know what this is or how to disconnect without it? Thanks.

Tom, this can be a pain but should come out quite easily. I've tried one which wouldn't budge and another which popped out easily. Just push in the little split plastic ring (white I think ) as far as it will go and pull the clutch pipe out. It is self sealing and won't lose any fluid. You don't need a special tool, pointy pliers or a couple of small screwdrivers will do.

Thank you Joel!

For those that want to try this at home, the hydraulic line (steel braid covered by heat insulation cloth) ends in a pink metal fitting, which has a larger white plastic ring around it, which then goes into a black plastic tube. The black tube goes into the bellhousing.

Push the white split ring into the black plastic tube; it will disappear, then pull on the pink end. If you've got the white ring pushed in enough, it disengages and pops apart. I was able to use only one small screwdriver. It did spit a little, and since it's brake fluid, don't get it on anything.
