George, you're right comparatively it's cheap, but at 93% occupancy it's kind of tough to find stuff that meets our needs. We are trying to get somewhat close to the Mopar distribution center, I think we have located some that are under 10 miles from that location... Thanks for the links!!

No wonder members got pissed when their posts got moved/deleted. Move a post that you want to hide to a forum less visited. From General to Ask VCA headquarters.

(sigh)

Gee, this thread is not hidden in the least. It keeps showing up in "New Posts" on my computer. I don't know about others; but, I never go to each of the sub-forums individually to see what is new. I use that "New Posts" feature. This topic has gone unhidden from me for a week.

I like the magazines; but, really, I am not standing by my mailbox waiting on the postman. I have a few more important things going on in my life.

I'll freely admit I expect moderators to move posts to the forum that is most appropriate for the topic. I am on many car forums and the best moderators do an outstanding job of not letting forums get cluttered with topics that are accidentally placed by the OP in the wrong forum. Magazine shipment questions are definitely not what I would consider a "General Viper" topic.

Re: still no magazines yet

Strange to me that the "previous administration" keeps being blamed for things, when the "current administration" is comprised mostly of the "previous" - I mean, Dan, you were national treasurer for the "previous administration."

You can only blame people that came before you for so long.

I am convinced I'll never see the magazines, ever. Oh well I guess. Lesson learned.

Well, neither the previous 2013 VCA President, VCA Vice President, nor VCA Secretary are presently part of the VCA administration, so, not sure what you are getting at.

Pretty good reply Jim.

Viper Smith,

Not sure where to start with your comment. It does look like a few of the "typical guys" got together and came over to our website to complain about a few issues, again. Getting kind of old guys.

Don't see anyone blaming the "previous administration" in this thread for magazine arrival dates, just facts.

And the previous administration, which was certainly not limited to National Officers, has mostly moved over to the other group.

When you receive your next two magazines, what will you post next? Will you post; "Thanks guys for busting your butt to get these done during these crazy times when you've had a few other things on your volunteer plate" or just find something else to complain about?

.....and I checked on the VPA complaint and could not get straight answers. Hard to fix a reported issue without the facts.

REALLY???? The new board has been busting their VOLUNTEER, NON-PAID butts to pull this club together. Yes, there have been promises that haven't been delivered in the time frame that some would like, but they have been open and willing to do what needs to be done. I can't even keep up with the posts on this board, let alone form an entirely new entity with a new approach in the time that I have after work and before I'm too tired to keep up with it. The members that have paid their dues to keep this club running aren't questioning the timing ... why do all the jabs come from those that don't support with either their funds or their time?!?

Dan

If I take money from my customers and don't deliver, I don't tell them to stop complaining or get upset when they "complain" or tell them to stop complaining.

I haven't mentioned anything about the club since my membership lapsed. But, a convenient way to divert.

This has clerly gotten out of control, and there is piling on. The mags have shipped, many have received. We've apologized for the delay, 3 magazines have been completed in 4 months. I'm not sure what else to say. We've stated the budget will be posted. Our treasurer was buried with work, so this was delayed. There's nothing left to say here. You can keep complaining, but it won't change the speed in which your postman delivers your mail... Clearly some of you will never be happy, so why do you continue to waste your time here?

Get magazines, get closure, pick your viper website, and enjoy your viper and life. ( when you see ( this week) a young man in his mid-twenties who presents with a four week history of weight loss and abdominal pain and evaluation reveals a cancer obstructing one of his kidneys and has spread to his lungs, liver, and brain.....it puts things in a different perspective .....I hope all of you realize how petty, ridiculous, small, and trivial all of this angst is over a damn magazine or two) .

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ !!!!!

I can't believe that they are wasting their negative energy on a trivial amount of money related to a ridiculously expensive toy.

Then again, here I am wasting my time posting about the issue. It just goes to show how extraordinarily wealthy (and not just in monetary sense) we are that this subject is on our radar at all.

Well not sure what to say fellows, it is February 6th and I have had no magazines in sight here in Colorado. NOTHING takes that long to deliver from the various dates you have stated it has shipped unless being shipped from out of country. I bought something non-car related a little while back from near where the magazines are being put together and it was shipped regular mail AFTER the date you said the magazines have shipped. That package has made it but magazines have not. Sorry but ............. well until they actually, "physically" show up, I am skeptical and why should I not be? Bob is correct, it is petty when compared to major medical issues, but the VCA is not a hospital nor doctor and is not in the paid position to save lives. It is a car club, that produces a paid for car magazine as part of the paid benefit and that is it's purpose. To confuse the two as was has done is unprofessional and immoral. Just deliver what was paid for, that is not asking too much.

I would say something but it would be useless. The post will get deleted anyway.................. :crazy2:

If you do not want people to lose faith and get mad, then do not send out an email on January 22 saying the following:

From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]
Sent: Wednesday, January 22, 2014 9:32 PM
To:
Subject: Dear 2013 VCA Members

Dear 2013 VCA Members. Now that 2 magazines have been shipped (sorry for the delay), although we appreciate the decision made by some Regional entities to affiliate with the VOA, we respectfully suggest that now that the New VCA Board has remedied the problems that were raised at the time of the change, that you consider renewing your membership with the VCA for the following reasons:
1. VPA (Viper Parts of America), the repository of much of Viper's history and a MOPAR dealer, which is 100% owned by the VCA, is now managed by a twenty year Viper tech named Keith Laxson. Herb Helbig is still providing services to VPA on an hourly basis. Chris Marshall resigned from VPA this past December.
2. The lease with the landlord who sent the letter to Chrysler is not being continued, and VPA is moving. Watch the VCA members section of our website for a special "members only" Viper parts sale on many inventory items coming soon.
3. Mary Marshall has been replaced by a new, independent management company to run VCA operations.
4. A new printer was recently hired to do the magazine. (This, in part, was the reason there has been a delay in two issues. Both of those issues are being mailed now.)
5. JonB has been reinstated.
6. An apology was given to Ralph months ago and SRT, as evidenced by the fact that Dick Winkles spoke at the VCA Central Florida holiday party, is not angry at the VCA.
7. The VCA Bylaws have been amended and, among other important changes, contain term limits for officers to avoid the accumulation of entrenched power.
8. Decision making is now based on member participation as indicated by the recent on line discussion and on line poll regarding whether to allow Viper truck owners to be VCA members.
9. The VCA is on sound financial footing, we have over $75k in the bank, and all bills are current, further, we have restructured our costs across the board, and will be announcing our first budget in 4 years. VPA has a very substantial inventory of current and hard to find Viper parts.
We have taken the steps outlined above in response to your concerns and with the desire to earn back your trust. Many more favorable changes are in the works and we would like you to join in the discussion and help us implement them.
Thank you for taking the time to read and consider this request. If you have any questions about this email, please contact us at: ***@vipercluborg or, if you are going to be in Daytona this weekend, please drop by and see us at the Westin Hotel in Lake Mary, Florida (www.westin.com/lakemary) on Friday afternoon from 1PM till 4PM.

It is refreshing to see such faith in the U.S. Postal Service's ability to deliver bulk mail on time. The shipping date in the email, per Dan's post was based on what the printer told Dan was the date the magazines would be delivered to the Post Office. Based on the delay, rather than trash the Board, I choose to believe the printer delivered the magazines to the Post Office later and the Post Office is taking its sweet time delivering the mail. Is that belief unreasonable? Why not give our volunteer leadership the benfit of the doubt as opposed to giving the printer and the USPO the benefit of the doubt?

I have not used the U.S. Post Office to deliver anything important for a number of years. It costs more but I can track it and I know when it is going to get there. Magazines are not important. We will get them. But we will not all get them at the same time. There have been threads for years about the disparate magazine delivery dates when they are sent out by bulk mail. This is nothing new.

This is old news. In years past VCA would send two copies of the magazine to their regional Presidents. One would go out first class, and the rest at the then current magazine bulk rate. It was amazing how much time difference there was between the two postal systems.

Presidents discussed and voted at the time, on whether to raise dues and send them out first class, or to keep the dues the same and send them bulk rate. The vote was overwhelming to continue to send them out bulk rate. It was also discussed whether to send the VENOM members out first class, however the rate was so much more expensive, most voted to send everything out bulk.

Every issue would generate a forum post from those happy to get them quickly, and grumbling from those who's postmen got it to them later…sometimes much later.

This is really nothing new.

In addition 1/2 the United States is currently covered in ice and snow. The roads are a mess. Electricity is out for thousands, the East Coast has run out of salt to keep the black ice from turning the roads into death traps. Weather is saying that 80% of the US will be experiencing below freezing temperatures. Getting our beloved Viper Magazine to us is probably not their highest priority. For all I know they are in an overturned 18 wheeler somewhere on a snow covered highway.

And yet all they do is complain about their magazines like it was life and death. Sometimes I wish they would just stuff it, but mostly likely they will carry on, and fixate on these magazine rants.

I understand their frustration. Particularly those who are snow bound and without Viper therapy. Hopefully, those who have not yet received the magazines will in the days to come. I can recall in prior years that they sometimes trickled in over a period of weeks based on the posts on this Forum. In the meantime, the email letter in post number 50 above is a good letter; true based on the data the Board had at the time it issued it; and well intended. It seems to me that they have accomplished a great deal under stressful circumstances. Some of those who are the most critical might consider renewing their membership and helping out. Wouldn't the energy and time be better used in that fashion?

Well it looks as if CBR-ACR from the Carolinas has received his magazines, so they are indeed trickling in. It IS puzzling that they ship from Florida ,I live in Florida, and as of today neither Jim or I have gotten ours. We have two separate member numbers. And then someone from Texas received theirs. I am not going to try explain this! What happens after they leave the post office is anyones guess! I loved the Balocco write up!

It is not what happens after they leave the post office. It is what happens once they are delivered to the post office. First there is the post office they are delivered to in bulk. Then they are sorted and sent out to other post offices to deliver. The local mail carrier gets the mags from his or her local post office. Bulk mail does not seem to get the same level of attentiuon as First Class mail. But, as said above, this has happened with every mailing of the magazines that I can remember. The delivery is always scattered over weeks.

So I came home after a week on the road, and mine were sitting in the mailbox (Dallas, TX). Postmark is 1/30.

I WISH we had the money to send these fedex, or even first class, but the savings is tremendous, but they ARE coming.

I know it must be frustating for the board to hear all those complaints .... But if you would deliver what you promised you wouldn't be hearing all this. Don't worry after all 3 missing magazines are received, you won't hear from us but as long as your short on delivering whats due to us, you'll have to live with it. Plain and simple. Excuses are for loosers.
