Just purchased a 97 TT Hennessey Venom 800 Viper in blue/white with 4K miles. I have been a lurker on this site for as long as I can remember. Looking forward to taking delivery tomorrow! This is my dream spec, the car I’ve talked about since I was a kid.

Who are you using for insurance? Any good Viper shops in MD?

Currently own a C6 Z06 that I plan on keeping as well.

Congrats man, that will be a whole lotta car. I'm a big fan of the C6 Z06 as well. If the Viper didn't have my heart, I'd probably have one of those. Who knows, maybe someday one will find it's way into the collection. I've been with Hagerty under their agreed value plan. So far insuring the car for what I think they should cover has worked out well. They primarily deal with specialty vehicles. I've had no hassle with them for daily driver or occasional track use.

Congrats on the Viper! I use Hagerty Insurance with an agreed value. You'll likely get several more recommendations on insurance carriers from others.

I do love my C6 Z06. Once you get the head issue fixed they are fairly reliable.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous about the 800hp. I’ve driven a lot of cars with good hp but this’ll be a different level.

Hennessy cars are notoriously poorly built, especially
Vipers. My first suggestion is to get it to Tator, Havik,
or Sessions (the 3 closest to MD,) or some other
Viper Guru to do a FULL inspection. There is a 70/30
chance its not the "spec" you think it is, and its
something you need to be aware of today instead of
years down the line like most do.

For insurance i use PHLY (division of Grundy) because
they have agreed value, dont dwell on miles, dont
care if its tracked, and is the only policy ive owned
that has gone down the past 5 years. They require
you to have a daily and a locked garage, but judging
from the pics thats probably not an issue for you.

Good luck!

This is now my biggest concern. Car drove great for the first 30 minutes then it was having and idle issue. After I stopped for gas and starting back up it wouldn’t go into boost. After another 5-10 minutes it drove fine again. Hoping it’s just a tuning issue. Not feeling great reading all these Hennessey horror stories.
