Michelin Rear Flats--What\'s up????

I have had a 95 RT and an 00 GTS. In 45,000 miles (a lot of Viper miles) , I have had 5 rear flat tires--3 on MXXS and now 2 on Pilot Sports.(never a front) During this time, I have had 7 other cars that have essentially been driven in the same areas for many more miles with no flats. 4 flats were nails, 1 is being looked at now (happened last night). I check pressures religiously. I realize a nail is a nail, but are these compounds ulta soft or what is the deal? One theory is that the fronts set up the nail and the rear takes it. The one last night was particularly unpleasant since it was a rapid deflation which amounted to some loss of control. This is getting very expensive. Any thoughts?

My cars are nail magnets, too - can't say why, but my other big-tired cars love nails so it is not just the Viper. My favorite time was after the roof on my home was replaced - I must have gotten a nail a month in my own driveway. A simple nail hole can be patched and Disocunt Tire does it for free - even if you are not a customer. Just **** up to the manager and make sure they are careful with your wheels.
