Local car guy was pushing for viper owners to use Mobil 1 5w 30 over 10w 30. Is it a good idea? Any thoughts? Thanks
For 2003-2006 Vipers I thought Mobil One 0w40 was the factory fill.

Flexx91 is correct, but it is good to use for all years. Someone is pushing 5-30W only because they got a deal on some, I would imagine.
Go with 0-40W and no sweat.
Anybody using Royal Purple I was told they don't have a 0w40...
Is that true?
I heard there stuff is really good...

We could only get Royal Purple XPR 10-40...(Extreme Performance & Racing Motor Oil), stock number 01041...we have found cooler temps using this oil...really don't think it's recommended however!! (probably also discounts the warranty should anything happen to the engine), and yes, it's synthetic, and no, we don't track the car. Probably should be going with manufacturer's recommendation as Bill Pemberton said, 0-40 Mobil 1. Live and Learn, right?!! ~juli~
