Mopar race exhaust - anyone using it?

I'm looking at putting the Mopar race exhaust set up on the SRT-10 and have a couple questions:

1) How does the sound compare to other exhaust kits?
2) What kind of HP/TQ gains can I expect with this exhaust?
3) Does this kit completely eliminate the crossovers?
4) Does it eliminate the cats?

1) Sound to me is deep and a lot louder.
2) With just the Mopar race exhaust, Mopar says 20hp 25tq.
3) Yes and is about 30 pounds lighter.
4) Yes and then you need either o2 sims or the race engine controller. With the race engine controller/exhaust combo you should pick up around 40rwhp and 40rwtq. Mopar sells the race controller, race exhaust and a cam as a package. They want us to use the cam also, but most people do not use it. The cam is only worth 6-8hp and is not cost effective. The tips come out of the exhaust openings like the viper race car/drifting car. Looks really cool to me.

At first, I thought it was too loud, Got used to it, and now I find it still to quiet. Thought I would have a issue with cops, I drive the car everyday, and still havnt been pulled over in the past 3 months. Finally sounds like a VIPER! You definetly feel hp gains, but maybe its just the sound. The cats went bye bye, CEL is on, sometimes off. I think Im going to expose the sensors to air, and just tie them up, see if that works? I think a member did this, and it worked??

Thanks for the input. I think I'll probably go with the o2 sims and stock controller. At some point I'm going to have the DC flash done. The loudness shouldn't be a problem for me as my GTS (which was my daily driver until the SRT-10) has Belanger headers, no cats and the Mopar cat back.

I have the mopar race setup cam, controller & exhaust. Yes I like the sound, but definately do not waste your money on the cam. For that matter, unless they are sure the new controller handles the A/C I don't think it is worth the money either and you are better off with the o2 sims and the stock controller. I would probably bet, if you go with the DC flash, they can probably take out the need for the down stream o2 sensors thus eliminating the need for the 02 sims in the first place. Have to check with them though.

I also have the Mopar exhaust. Except with a Paxton. The loudness is ok but I have significant drone at a cruising speed. I am thinkg about installing cones to help.

I use simulators and have had no MIL issues.

One concern is the posotioning of the tips. They use the complete opening. At the front when cold and at the back when hot.

It sounds like the exhaust tip is never aligned in the center of the opening - true? How bad does it look?

I spent alot of time on the flightline around fighter jets, my hearing wasn't that good before I got the mopar exhaust!

The loudness won't bother me - my GTS is pretty loud now.

today I was servicing my car, had it up on a lift, and had issues with the left side leaking fumes, did the mopar race come with some special gaskets or clamps? or is it metal to metal with the oem clamp? I got it taken care of, but still very curious??

It is metal to metal and uses the stock clamps. I have had leaks at those joints also. Finally took the exhaust back off and attached those clamps first with the exhaust loose. I found that the clamps were not installed perfect and allowed the leaks. The exhaust is under a lot of stress when you instal the front mounting point.

BTW: How's the heat reduction in the car and on the sills with this exhaust?

moparman, the heat is reduced by SOOOO much, if anything the sills sometimes get just warm.

Thanks for the feedback on the heat. Sounds like the improvement in sill heat was much like removing the cats from my GTS.

How do the polished tips look with the Mopar set-up?

The polished tips come on the street system, not the race exhaust.

We have had a lot of customers tell us that the side black paint around the exhaust opening is getting burnt and or dirty, Therefor we are designing a Billet Polished Exhaust tip Extension Set for the Mopar / Borla Exhaust Tips which should be ready for release in a few weeks. I will post pictures when the prototype is completed.

Robbie - definitely post photos when you get the prototytpe done.

My GTS with no cats tends to varnish the stripes but the exhaust at the point of exit is not hot enough to scorch anything. I guess the SRT-10's shorter exhaust path and closer proximity of bodywork to the exhaust tips would mean that the bodywork could get scorched and varnished.

We are now working on a fastening system that will not show and will make it possible to install these tips without removing the side sill covers. I believe we should be ready in a week or two.

mopar race computer

i LOVE the sound of the mopar race exhaust. i also installed the mopar race computer as well.
HP gains i couldn't really feel, but man does it sound wicked. very throaty. it also drops a TON of weight off the car. i don't remember exactly, but it seems like it was about 70lbs!

my AC would go in & out all the time after i installed the race computer though. sometimes it would work. sometimes it wouldn't.
i don't know if dodge has a fix or update from it. i doubt they would as i believe their outlook on it is that there's usually no AC in a race car.

as for the drone. i had a corsa set of pipes on the car before i put the mopar on.
the corsa had no drone & sounds btr than stock.
the mopar does have a little drone.
my srt10 is also a convertible so i don't know how much the drone would lessen (if any) from a hard top

i did find the drone annoying. however, i use my car as a daily driver & put a LOT of interstate miles on it. the drone gets old quick.

btwn the mopar race exhaust & the corsa, i'd do the mopar hands down if the car WASN'T a daily driver. sounds real bad a$$ & not too obnoxious.

as for the car being a daily driver, i'd say the mopar race is a toss up.
if u don't mind the drone, go for it.

Jesse, my viper tech here and DC got together and they decided to lower the freon from 1lb to .8lbs and the a/c works alot better.
