After re-checking the wire order w/ the wife's help, I thought we had fininaly got it fixed. Nope.. BUT, it has been narrowed down!!

The problem lies on the passenger bank. I can hear little "tink tink" in the exhaust when i'm sitting, and the passenger side still is EXTREAMLY HOT! I mean 100% hotter than the drivers side. This is unburnt fuel igniting in the cat correct?

So... i'm going to let it cool off and pull #10 and #2 plugs, I have a gut feeling one of them may be the culpret. Could it be an odd coincidence that my cat has gotten clogged on the passenger side?

car runs STRONG in the top end.. the exhaust note has actualy changed to much more of a V8ish growl, and an ungodly howl at high RPMs (like a friggin race car), very raspy. I thought I was blowing some white smoke on the highway, and stuttering.. but I think it was my tires braking loose!

At low RPM, say at a easly launch, the car kinda resonates and "wobbles" untill ~2K where it smooths out. I still think the car isn't firing all the cylinders correctly...

Any guesses?

i'm stumped.

Removed all 5 plugs on passenger side, checked gap, checked plug wires (visual, no cracks that I can see), traced the wires back twice to make sure they were in the right spot... STILL running VERY VERY VERY hot in the passenger side. ***? Car ran great until I parked it last week, now it runs like crap!?

I am going to put the stock wires back on and see if they smooth out, to rule out a set of plugs. If no change, then i'll put the original plugs back in. If it still does it, then i'll move on to something else on a larger scale..

I seriously doubt I bent a valve or anything, I mean.. it's just been sitting at home for a week!??!?

My cheat sheet says:

1, 10, 9, 4, 3, 6, 5, 8, 7, 2 (for Gen 1)

Could you have switched some fuel injector wires? Each cylinder would still get fuel, so it would run, perhaps without any problem at higher engine speeds, but the injection timing may cause unburnt fuel to pass through at lower engine speeds and cause the cat overheating.

How do the plugs look? If one cylinder isn't firing, I'd think that plug would look wet rather then tan.

MM even though you checked the wires, I think you have two wires swapped. In my manual the wires DO NOT line up correctly with the coil pack on the car

don't know if I was reading it wrong or not, but I swapped 2 wires and it was doing EXACTLY what your car is doing. You could try pulling one wire off at a time then listen to the exhaust. If the popping goes away then you found one of the wires. Caution on running the car too long as you are dumping raw fuel into the cylinders and if it's not burned it will wash away the oil and damage the rings.
