I had my 94 Viper parked in front of my parents house for a couple hours and when I came out my back window was shot out by something. There was a distinct entry point until I touched the glass and it all gave out. I attached a picture. I now have a new winter project... take all the interior out and get the glass that is behind the seats cleaned. Here is a picture. Does anyone know if I can even get this glass??? I am going to e-mail JonB as soon as I am done with this post. :(

I know I spelled "more" and "vandalism" wrong in the title. I was very pissed when I wrote the message and didn't notice. Dammit Jim, I'm and Accounting Professor not an English Professor! (Star Trek reference for those of you who are young)...

Re: Moer VIPER vandilism

Was the projectile still in the cockpit area? behind/under seats?

I have not been behind or under the seats yet. It is too cold and my garage I keep it in won't allow me to open the doors all the way. Sometime this winter I will put it in my main garage and take the seats out and clean everything. There was, however, quite a lot of very tiny glass pieces (glass dust) on my black dash bezel so that tells me that it broke with force.

Dear George,

There's no judging grammar here, I'm just sad to hear that there is another ****** oaf out there who would damage such a great car.....I hope somehow along that child's journey to adulthood that they either grow up and become responsible or get sterilized and save the next generation the same grief.

Regards,
Aaron

Re: Moer VIPER vandilism

Thanks Frank. I will let you know. My car is pretty pristine for a 94 and I want to keep it that way, so maybe I will be calling you. The insuance claim person on the phone was nice but not knowledgeable about Vipers. She said any 'ole glass place could get me the glass... I'll believe that when I see it!

A few years ago where I used to live there was these kids(punks)that would drive around and attach a string to a spark plug, unscrew the tip and throw is point first at any auto window and it would break leaving no evidence. I had a nice muscle car(cuda)that fell frey to this and some other kids told me they were braggin, So I rounded up a few of my buddys and pulled a west side story on them and needless to say the broken window issues stop. The sad thing is this was a well too do area, you don't need to be in the getto for these things to happen! the only thing that was bad was that one kid ended up in the hospital! all I wanted was to teach them a lesson but some of my buddys are the kind of guys you want on your side in a bar fight and got a little carried away!

As bad as it is ...at least the body doesn't seem damaged/scratched by whatever it was.

Thr trunk has some surface scratches from the broken glass, but I think I can buff them out without much trouble. I really need to go inspect the entire car, which I will do tomorrow when I have some time. If I can find some glass all I will be out will be $100 deductible and the time to clean the mess inside. I'm really not looking forward to removing the seats, but I want to put a seat lowering kit in anyway, so I can do both at the same time. Really no biggy if I can get some glass.

Wait, are you really a professor? Which school? Here I thought I was the only academic with a Viper:omg:

Really sorry to hear about the window. You would think people would have more respect for others' belongings, let alone when that belonging is a Viper. I think it comes down to a lack of empathy--they can't imagine (for whatever reason) how it would feel if the same thing happened to them--or abundance of apathy (they can put themselves in someone else's shoes, but just don't care). Starting from either of those points, it's easy to see how someone could do something like this for "fun".

Explaining Viper things to you
We've still got the posse in Texas :tx: on point from the last incident. If I see some punks come riding up to the border from the North with slingshots I'll give them an IQ test...

Sounds like you've got it under control though. I'll tip a few tonight in honor of your forthcoming repairs however!

It's a real long story, but the short of it is I was at Bradley University but I have sinced moved to Illinois Central College. Seems like a strange move (from a University to a Community College), but I had over 11 years in the state university retirement system as an administrator at a couple different colleges before I went back to grad school and then to Bradley. When the ICC job opened I did an extensive retirement planning study, and since Bradley is private the only retirement was a 401-K, so the move to ICC put me back into the system which should increase my retirement substantially and allow me to retire sooner with a higher amount. However, I really think I would go back to Bradley if a position opened as I really loved it there and many times regret leaving. Yea, not many academicians can afford Vipers... good thing my wife has a good job! :)

While you are waiting you might want to read this thread that mentions rear glass on a 94. Sorry to hear that happened to your Viper.

You should save the rear window seal. It was probably glued onto the glass from the factory, but mine doesn't stick anymore. Some frugal folks might be intested in it if you don't want it.

Man that *****. So sorry you were victim to something like this.

Looking at the bright side, at least it was only a window. An easy replacement. It could have been worse like someone keying the side of the car. That is not an easy replacement.

Good luck!

i thought rob and i were better teachers than that. you have to keep an eye on your snake at all times!

You are good teachers, I must not be a good listener... :dunno: Thought it was safe in front of my parents house in the middle of the day in a very nice neighborhood. WRONG. :boggled:
